YOUR Transfer Experience

Wondering if I could hear from a few people as to why they transferred (or are considering transferring), and AFTER transferring how their experience has been?

Does everyone who is considering transferring or has transferred HATE their first school? Or is it sometimes a matter of looking for more because you don't feel challenged or inspired?

Lol is this a ploy to gather ideas for that Common App question?

^ Haha no actually! That would be a pretty crappy essay if I took others’ reasons and wrote about them. Thankfully I have a little more respect and class than that (and good enough reasons of my own).

Im more interested in hearing what happened after people transferred, if they were satisfied with their decision, etc.

I would actually love to hear about this too - I might be transferring (for financial reasons, so against my will haha) and I’m curious about other student’s experiences

I think everyone’s answers are going to be different (if you get any, I think most people who transferred are done with the transfer forums). Schools are different, people are different, situations are different, etc.

I went to a community college right out of high school and then transferred to a 4-year college. I hated the school because it was in a pretty bad neighborhood and the academics were not nearly challenging enough considering tuition is $30k+/year. I transferred to another 4-year college closer to home. The courses were a perfect fit, I loved the professors, the area surrounding the college wasn’t so bad, and although it was also $30k+ a year, I feel that it was worth it (I did receive academic scholarships at both schools, but still paid a decent amount since I was a transfer student in both cases and full-tuition scholarships were not offered for transfers). I am very glad that I took that chance to transfer a second time.
