Am I Too Well Rounded for T20s?

K, so… I’m going to list all of my ECs I will put on my common app (no order)

Majors: (hopefully triple) Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, and Computer Science

  1. I did some medical research and got my name published in science magazines
  2. I have vital leadership roles in my school’s Biology, Chemistry, Robotics, and Engineering teams/clubs. I organized events where the 4 teams would make a robot for a biological purpose and we sent them to contests, most of which we won. Also, I had a representative from each team start a business with me where we were a Mad Science gig for kids birthday parties.
  3. I am a published author of a series, and an AP Biology textbook (scored a 5 in 7th grade!!), and have also written many plays for my High School Theatre Group, which I am also Leader of.
  4. I have been a web developer forever and then an app developer as well. I made many SAT Apps, and will most likely help teenagers, because I managed a 1540 on my SAT in 8th grade.
  5. I am Vice-President of the Debate team at my high school, where we won a variety of competitions, but I also made this program called, “Debate Against Bullies”, where if anyone was getting harassed, a member of the Debate team would try to knock some sense into the bully.
  6. I am the Leader of my Canadian HOSA Team, and also established a nonprofit where the team would give presentations on basic human anatomy for younger children.
  7. I am Leader of my fencing team, and I plan on trying to get recruited. I also love archery, and am quite skilled at it too.
  8. I was on Student Council all 4 years, and eventually became Student Body President.
  9. I programmed a blog, similar to Khan Academy, except without the questions, and it was mainly focused on Science.
  10. I founded my school’s Volunteer Squad for all 4 years, and I obtained 50+ volunteer areas in my city, which is quite small.

Now, onto the reason why I’m writing this!
Am I too well-rounded?
I’ve been stressed for as long as you could think, so any feedback is a relief. As you can see, I had spikes in every extracurricular I listed down, which was making me think maybe the top schools I’m applying to (MIT, Stanford, Yale, Harvard, UPenn, Hopkins etc.) would think that I’m well-rounded and was thinking that was my key to the Top 20s, when in reality, I just love those activities, but I tried to have more science spikes to counter the humanities and athletic spikes. Also, if you could give me advice on how to get rid of that well-roundness if I am too well-rounded, or just give me a probability of getting into one of the Ivies, that would be amazing too! Thanks! Sorry for making you read this all.

I can’t tell if this is a joke

@aghcollege I definitely get what you mean

Hey bud, you don’t seem well rounded in the slightest… it looks like science is your life and fencing and volunteering were side hobbies. Regardless, I don’t think it matters.

It sounds like you have your heart set on applying to these schools and I think you should for that exact reason. Those schools are T20s. No matter who you are (unless you’re an Obama) the odds are against you getting in. But you know this. You also seem to want to apply regardless and I don’t think you should let some strangers heighten your expectations of getting in or sway you from applying all together. You seem to be a brilliant kid, competing with other brilliant kids to get into an amazing school. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Thanks! It means a lot that you’re giving me this feedback! I wasn’t expecting a response this quick, so thank you! Yes, I see the Hunger Games reference. Thank you, once again!
