K, so… I’m going to list all of my ECs I will put on my common app (no order)
Majors: (hopefully triple) Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, and Computer Science
- I did some medical research and got my name published in science magazines
- I have vital leadership roles in my school’s Biology, Chemistry, Robotics, and Engineering teams/clubs. I organized events where the 4 teams would make a robot for a biological purpose and we sent them to contests, most of which we won. Also, I had a representative from each team start a business with me where we were a Mad Science gig for kids birthday parties.
- I am a published author of a series, and an AP Biology textbook (scored a 5 in 7th grade!!), and have also written many plays for my High School Theatre Group, which I am also Leader of.
- I have been a web developer forever and then an app developer as well. I made many SAT Apps, and will most likely help teenagers, because I managed a 1540 on my SAT in 8th grade.
- I am Vice-President of the Debate team at my high school, where we won a variety of competitions, but I also made this program called, “Debate Against Bullies”, where if anyone was getting harassed, a member of the Debate team would try to knock some sense into the bully.
- I am the Leader of my Canadian HOSA Team, and also established a nonprofit where the team would give presentations on basic human anatomy for younger children.
- I am Leader of my fencing team, and I plan on trying to get recruited. I also love archery, and am quite skilled at it too.
- I was on Student Council all 4 years, and eventually became Student Body President.
- I programmed a blog, similar to Khan Academy, except without the questions, and it was mainly focused on Science.
- I founded my school’s Volunteer Squad for all 4 years, and I obtained 50+ volunteer areas in my city, which is quite small.
Now, onto the reason why I’m writing this!
Am I too well-rounded?
I’ve been stressed for as long as you could think, so any feedback is a relief. As you can see, I had spikes in every extracurricular I listed down, which was making me think maybe the top schools I’m applying to (MIT, Stanford, Yale, Harvard, UPenn, Hopkins etc.) would think that I’m well-rounded and was thinking that was my key to the Top 20s, when in reality, I just love those activities, but I tried to have more science spikes to counter the humanities and athletic spikes. Also, if you could give me advice on how to get rid of that well-roundness if I am too well-rounded, or just give me a probability of getting into one of the Ivies, that would be amazing too! Thanks! Sorry for making you read this all.
