I know it’s everyone’ favorite topic: tags! When we first introduced them we thought tagging schools would be the right solution. We were wrong. Most of the tags on the site merely clutter up the view and offer little to nothing in the way of useful information. So I’m going to be deleting some school tags in the next few days. There is one notable exception: we are retaining Musical Theater school tags. At some point in the future, we might lock those tags so they are only used in the Musical Theater Major category.
Once we’ve cleaned up the tags, we’ll see if what remains adds value. Part of the reason we are doing this now is that we have some plans for using tags to display specific types of threads in our College Search pages. More details to come in the weeks ahead.
