Syracuse University 2021(2022) ED Applicants

Post your stats and what you are applying for !!!

Oh boy this is starting? Well okay then. I guess I’ll start off

I’ve got pretty sub par stats but I mean I feel confident so we’ll see.
I’m applying ED to Whitman in Accounting, with Political Science at Maxwell as my second choice.

I’m your average white female, but my school is incredibly competitive in MA, and I also will be the first in my family to attend college.
GPA: UW 2.7 (but my transcript looks better than my GPA sounds, I got really sick junior year pulling my grades down and Syracuse is aware)
ACT: 27
School doesn’t rank
A laundry list of EC, including being club treasurer for most of those
Also a laundry list of Volunteer work
I’m one of 40 top senior leaders at my school
I visited campus this past weekend and had a phenomenal personal interview.
I take mainly AP and honors, with 4 APs total for me (my school only allows 2 AP classes per year, for Juniors and Seniors)
I personally think my essay is great, and I have incredible recs.
I know Whitman is a reach for me with my GPA, but I’m hoping the rest of my stats will balance it out.

Also, I heard that we aren’t hearing back until closer to January this year, which feels late but I guess I can’t complain, it’s better than April.

I’ve been a long time lurker of these threads, can’t believe the time has actually come!

I haven’t submitted my application yet, but I’m applying to Newhouse as a journalism major, with marketing at Whitman as my second choice.

SAT: 1320
GPA: 3.95 (W, as my school doesn’t report UW)
Rank: Just barely made the top 10%

I’m flying from Hawaii to Arizona in about a week for my interview, fingers crossed everything goes okay.

Im applying first choice as a Finance major (Whitman)

second choice economics (School Of Arts and Sciences)

third choice information studies (School of information studies)

GPA: 3.3
Class Rank: 240/540

New Sat: 1260 (630) (630) I took the new SAT it march w/o the essay

ECs: Fishing Club: 11, 12

Forensics: 9

I also have worked 3 Jobs during the Summer for the past 2 years, and have had one job for 4 years.

Wow, guess Whitman is a popular choice. I’m scared because Syracuse is absolutely a dream but my stats are low, however the Whitman dean of undergrad recruitment knows me well and the associate dean (for Whitman) as well, so I’m hoping that helps my case. It’s definitely a competitive pool! Anyone visit campus yet? What did you guys think? I adored it, it completely decided for me to apply ED.

@RachelN98 Campus is beautiful…I went in April and it was still snowing !!! The best part of the Syracuse area is the go-karts at Destiny USA

I Am personally applying to VPA for Sound Technology

Just submitted my application a few hours ago. Applying to the College of Arts & Sciences - Undecided.

GPA: 95.69/100% (basically a 3.8)
ACT: 25
6 APs: Psych, Lang, Lit, Bio, Spanish, Stat
Great essays and great recs
Lots of ECs and volunteer work
White female from NY

My interview is in less than 3 weeks in NYC so wish me luck!

@bubblesbutter im also going for a interview in nyc

Good luck to others who are interviewing! Mines is in 3 days, so I’ll let you know how it goes afterwards :).
And I haven’t physically seen the campus, but I do watch daily YouTube vlogs from an SU student (AboveTheBlock, you should watch his videos, they’re super helpful) and it looks stunning!

i do tooo !!!..I think his real name is Calvin

I’m applying to arts and sciences (political science) as soon as I get the finishing touches done on my essays. GPA is low at 3.1, but my act is a 30 so I’m optimistic. I’m on two varsity sports and have several leadership roles throughout different organizations. I’m very politically active so I’m hoping that helps to support my major choice. Interviewed today and it went really well actually.

Oh god I love AboveTheBlock! His vlogs were one of the reasons I got so interested in Syracuse. Sent in my FAFSA, CSS, and Common App today! Finding out that I can submit the common app without all my recs submitted (as my school is connected with Naviance) helped for sure, so at least I know it’s done. I honestly love how Syracuse runs their interviews, it really was laid back like a conversation to help you feel more comfortable. But now its out of my hands, so fingers crossed! Did anyone else spend a ton of time reading the past ED threads? I know I definitely did haha

Just got back from my interview! It was very interesting, not at all what I was expecting. Especially after reading your post on another thread about your interview, Rachel. My interviewer didn’t ask me many questions, he mostly spoke about the weather and what Syracuse has to offer (things I already knew about). I was a little bummed he didn’t ask me more about my involvement in my school paper, or about why I want to go to Syracuse. I kind of had to bud in at certain moments to explain those things, though I regret not explaining more in depth. I also would’ve loved to have answered those tough on-the-spot questions that require deep thinking. Each interviewer is very different in approach, I suppose. He was very nice, though, and he made me feel very comfortable. He was also very helpful in answering my questions.
For anyone interviewing in California, I believe he said he’s traveling to California next.

Hi everyone! I’m applying ED to the College of Arts and Sciences! I have a 3.37 UW and a 3.95W. 26 ACT. Does anyone know if Syracuse uses weighted or unweighted GPA. I’m really neevous because I got all As and a D in math for both semesters. I have my reasons but I’m just so neevous that this will impact my decision. I’m so excited though!

@jitterbugperfume totally with you! I’ve read so many of these but here I go

Interviewed in Detroit

Good luck to everyone!!!

@ powerpuff Did you tell Syracuse the reasons, whether in the extra info section or in a rec letter from maybe your guidance counselor? I had health issues (a lot of them) that caused my grades to slip severely junior year. They said they’re holistic in their decisions so they would take into account factors that may have caused a negativity on the transcript or profile of the student.

Hey! Actually the admission rep cane to my school yesterday and there were only like two other kids that came. So I got to talk to him and I also have an interview with him on November 5th in Chicago! And my math grades were terrible because of a heakth issue too. I’m sure they’ll see beyond that but you never know.
