Waitlisted at UPenn

I was told I was waitlisted at UPenn and immediately accepted the position, do you guys have any other suggestions on how to get off the waitlist and into Penn? It’s always been my dream to go to UPenn.

There is no magic secret to getting into UPenn. Pick a different school from the list that you love. Plan out your future as if Penn doesn’t exist. If you get into Penn, treat it as a wonderful gift. But you should not plan on it, it’s not realistic.

@chatkj99 Soory to say this but I think this year Penn will not use the waitlist much if at all since they seem to have over-admitted slightly or at the very least they have definitely not under-admitted.

In their 2015-2016 Common Data Set, they state they admitted 90 students off the wait list.

I agree you should mentally move on, but if you receive any additional honors/awards, you can send that to them and express your continued interest in attending.

If you know for certain that if admitted, you will attend, you should also state this. But only if it is true.

@college_query while this information appears on the 2015-2016 common data set, it refers to fall 2013. last year they accepted only around 10-15 people off the waitlist.

@Penn95 Where are you getting that information?

@mhillsman “2015 2016 common data set” as they said in their reply.

@philbegas Nope, he’s specifically saying that the 2015-2016 common data set is not accurate because it is referencing fall 2013 waitlist admittance. He said that last year 10-15 people got off the waitlist. I want to know where he got that information.

@mhillsman looked at the number of admits announced on ivy day last year (on the daily Pennsyvlanian) and then compared it with the figure on the penn class profile page (which are the final figures after waitlist was used)

so we have 3674 (final figure) - 3661 (initial admit figure) = 13
