1 on AP Computer Science Exam: Can I still get in?

I took AP Computer Programming in my Junior year, and took the AP exam that spring. I ended the year with a 96% in the class, but only scored a 1 on the exam. To be honest, I'm not sure how I scored so low; everything made sense when I took it. So, my question is, how might this affect my chances for admission to computer science programs?
For reference, here are my other stats:
SAT- 2110/2400
SAT II-
Math IIC - 710
Literature - 650
AP-
Calculus AB - 5
European History - 4
English - 3
GPA: 4.0 (93.8/100)

Just don’t send it in…

Sure, but if I’m sending my AP transcript, wouldn’t that include all scores?

Which college? Maybe you shouldn’t send any of your AP scores in…You got a good grade in the class, so that should suffice. Depending on what colleges, they don’t really look at AP scores that much. The class you took shows interest, so you don’t need a bad AP score to scar that. GL.

deff. don’t send all your AP scores, i’m pretty sure you can choose not to send it.

Most people do NOT send their AP Scores for college apps.

AP scores get sent to your FINAL college.

^It’s all self-reported.

OP, have them recheck your test. It’s impossible to get a 1 when you think you did well.

It’s quite common to fail the AP Exam. Look at the results from [last years APCS A exam scores](http://www.hscompsci.com/component/content/article/1-programmingcategoryalias/16-is-the-apcs-exam-easy-no.html).

About 40% of students who took the exam failed it.

I have no idea where you got that idea.

You self-report AP scores… Just don’t report that one.

You might want to get your test re-scored by hand or something because a 1 is pretty hard to get if you even remotely know the material. Might be a scantron error or some other stupid thing.

I was just having a discussion with another student about this. He was saying that the APCS A is the easiest of all of the exams.

Roughly 50% of all of the people who take the APCA A exam fail it with a score of 3 or lower. I say 3 is failing because very few colleges accept anything other than a 4 or 5 on the test.

On top of that, there are MANY bad high school CS teachers out there. I’ve seen several teachers in the United States “forget” to teach the case study which is 25% of the test!

I highly recommend that you take an online AP CS course. [Google Search for APCS A Online Courses](<a href=“ap computer science online objectdraw - Google Search”>ap computer science online objectdraw - Google Search)

There was a guy from my school who got a 1 on the AP Bio exam and 1800 on his SAT and still got into UCLA, so I think there’s still hope!

maybe you skipped one question and it threw everything off track…

Don’t worry about it! So you blew one exam? If you have other good AP scores, then you can pay to have the College Board officially send your score report to colleges (this makes it more official). Then, you can pay a small extra fee to have them either cancel or hide your bad score from colleges. That’s what I did, and it’s really easy. Look at your AP packet or go to the college board website to find out how to do that.

Yes, ask to have your test rescored. I can’t imagine that anyone who actually learned the material would fail CS.

But yes, you can simply not report it.
