1 year EC with leadership vs. 4 years EC without

These are activities that I participated only during a year, but had a leadership position.

Tennis: Team leader (Sophomore year only)
Korean Percussion ensemble: Section leader (Sophomore year only)
Global Leadership Program: Representative (Freshmen year only)

These are some that I participated for four years in HS:

An international music festival for four years with distinctions (no awards available)
Clarinet and music composition

How should I rank them on my applications??
Music is something big for me and I have an EC that shows my passion about it.

Do admission officers favor leadership over passion?

I think admission officers would like passion more, but then again passion in something usually will lead to a position of leadership of some sort (unless it’s like super competitive). But yea, leadership without passion = resume pad.

95% of college don’t give a hoot about ECs.

What you describe is very odd. You join a club/team, lead immediately and then leave.

An annual music festival is a nice but minor EC. I don’t think ranking matters here.

Like hmom said, it’s odd how you join things for a year (with leadership!) and then leave. I’d imagine adcoms will think similarly, so I recommend focusing on music, which you’ve been involved in extensively (this includes the one-year percussion ensemble). For the other two, especially tennis, I’d be wary of including them on your app at all.
