No leadership?

Hi, I don't really have any leadership (besides the fact that i might be leader of the varsity girl's tennis team next year... or not). Will this hurt me? I'm planning on applying to HYP (and obviously other schools). But how important is leadership? Do people get into those top tier colleges without leadership? I mean, not everyone has the opportunity to create 100s of clubs, right? haha

my ECs are as follows:
Science Scholars (i am conducting my own research this coming summer... and I will be competing in Intel and Siemens senior year).
-I've shadowed a scientist (last summer) for about a month, probably 5+ hours a day
-I take art classes (4 years)
-I play piano (since kindergarten)
-I used to play the violin (probs won't include this in my app since i stopped, but I did the usual NYSSMA)
-I play the chinese harp (couple of years)
-Varsity Girl's tennis (4 years)
-Volunteering at a hospital this summer (maybe 2 hospital. not sure yet)
-Flute in Band
-Time for Kindness Club
-Builder's Club

I think the main reason leadership looks good is that it is proof you are committed to your activities.

If you can convey your dedication to your extracurriculars in other ways, perhaps getting your name on a research paper or winning your competition, I do not believe leadership roles are crucial.

Of course, they are always nice to have. Keep looking out for opportunities!

NYSSMA, Intel, Siemens, all count as leadership in your chosen ECs.
