1-year programs in Europe

Hello! I currently hold a BM in performance and will be starting my MM in the fall. Thinking ahead to the future, I’ve been considering the prospect of studying for a year in Europe after I finish my master’s. For funding purposes (I’m hoping to get a Fulbright) it would be ideal to participate in a 1-year program.

I’ve done some research of my own, but if anyone else is in the know about artist diploma/certificate programs in Europe that only last 1 year, I’d love to hear about them. Specifically, this would be in classical performance (brass instrument).

There are many, of course. Not sure what your performance interests and path might be. Royal Conservatory of the Hague is one to look at. I know a couple of people who studied there outside of a degree program. Do you play any new music? Do you do mostly ensemble or orchestral work? Do you have a preference for a country or city?

Thanks for the reply! Ideally this would be with an orchestral focus but I’m open to other options. I have no real preference in terms of location…schools that offer their courses in English is preferred but not required.

I have looked into the Hague. It’s definitely a strong choice because they have some very excellent teachers for the instrument I play.

I think your teachers and peers will have recommendations. I would think they would be great resources. Have you done summer programs in Europe?

Of course you can google and get lists like this: https://peabody.jhu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/orchestra_academies.pdf

New music programs are plentiful in Germany, but for orchestral programs, anything in the UK that you have looked at?
