ok so we all are basically stalking ivy league decisions lol… let’s face it… cc is as obsessive as they come lol

7 Days…
/10char

There’s still 8 and a half days left, are you guys just bad at counting or am I missing something? 3/30 around noon time, right?

@randombetch 3/29 5pm eastern is the actual time/date. Same with all other ivy schools.

Guys, go do something PRODUCTIVE! It’ll keep your mind off things. In my case, I’m going on a backpacking trip, which has an added benefit of preventing me from checking CC.

violinista, where can I find that info?

[Princeton University | Application Dates & Deadlines](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/deadlines/)
Says 3/30, but that might be via mail and online might be the day before.

Edit: I checked Harvard just now and their website says 3/29, so I guess I was wrong about Princeton since they always release at the same time.

@randombetch I just got an email from Princeton saying that admission decisions will officially be available 3/29 at 5pm EDT

It’s funny how we perceive time… Last thursday feels like yesterday, but next thursday feels like in an eternity!

I’m so nervous to even check … it’s like going to officially kill me lol

The key to being happy on 3/29 is to have low expectations. Let’s face it - most people who think they might get in won’t get in.

so nervous u guys !

Let’s be honest - we didn’t apply to ivies because we are good at having low expectations.

^lol, very good point, classicgirll

^^ classicgirll is right… seriously cmon wer all straight A students … low expectations don’t happen often. especially wen uve worked so Long and hard.

I don’t know how bad grade inflation is in some of your districts, but all I can say right now is it’s far too easy to get straight As- you need like above 5.0 just to be in the top 1% here…

That’s supposedly why standardized testing was instituted. But I’ve heard varying accounts of why SATs were introduced.

@xabsox

GPA / rank tells you how you’ve performed given the opportunities you have at your school.

Standardized test scores put this performance in a recognized context.

Yes well, I’ve moved from a school with low grade inflation, to a school with quite a bit of grade inflation, so my rank seems to have been affected quite detrimentally. I suppose they can compare my performance to that of other students at the two schools, but I’m not sure how they’d get an accurate read on me, short of using my standardized test scores.

Those however would give me perhaps too much credit

Looks like colleges will need to come up with a new approach soon.
Studies show that higher SATs are directly correlated with a higher socioeconomic status, but it is yet unknown whether or not this is due to prep classes or high-end tutors.

More seriously, the SAT is a very trainable test… and I’ve heard that many colleges just aren’t taking it as seriously anymore. If it’s not GPA and not SAT, what is it they’re looking for!? Ahhhhhh.

@classicgirll I don’t really agree that high SAT is directly correlated with wealth. I know plenty of kids who had very expensive private tutoring and couldn’t get past a 2000. I also know plenty of kids who self-studied using the collegeboard blue book and got 2300+.

I still think high GPA/SAT/SAT2/AP scores, class rigor, ecs, and something that sets an applicant apart from the crowd is what they are looking for.

^ While you may not agree, and know some anecdotal examples to the contrary, the numerical evidence doesn’t lie. The correlation is there, and extremely strong: [SAT Scores and Family Income - NYTimes.com](SAT Scores and Family Income - The New York Times) Whether the relationship is causal is an entirely different story though…
