100 point GPA scales

The question of how 100 pt GPA scales were dealt with was asked in the college admissions forum, but nobody gave a definitive answer. Someone said that the counselors converted the 100 point scale to a 4.0 scale using a chart. I have a 94 weighted, 90.3 unweighted. Where does this place me as far as the average and or median scores are at the top state Universities?

3.96 weighted, 3.8 unweighted

3.96 weighted? Wow.

Yea...WOW is right

In my school counselors stress that a GPA of about 3.5-3.6 is like an A- average. So compare that to a 90.3(A-) I'd say you uw was more like 3.6ish not 3.8. The weigthed would be more like 4.2ish on a scale my school uses.

Good Luck

An A- at my school is around 85/100 and a 90 is an A where did you get 3.5-3.6? that seems pretty arbitrary to me.

most schools have it so 93+ is an A, 90-93 is an A-

They aren't on 100 scales, they are on 95 scales. Anything 95+ is A+, (4.0+) so a 93, 94 average will give you a 3.9ish average. I have a 90 average which is a 3.8 GPA.

Sorry about that...I thought they were on a 100 point scale.
Chris- at my school 93-90 is a A-, 89-87 is a B+, and 86-83 is a B.

Sorry about the confusion, I thought they were based on 100 pt. scale.

oh ok, sorry, one thing I don't understand though how are your grades calculated? I live in Canada so ours are probably different than yours anyway (probably should have mentioned that) but my grades are just weighted averages of test scores, assignments etc. basically only things that can be given percents count. I never really understood how GP's work like on tests and things do you get A's or A-'s?

This post has thoroughly confused me. Oh well, at least I can rest assyred that they won't lierall convert it to a 4 point scale for me, seeing as how I just got my 3rd 89 yearly average last semester in 2 years.

At my school 93 is an A-, 94+ is an A, 92 is a B+ and 85 is a B-.
