101 Ways of Surviving Senior Year

CLASS OF 2007, Here We Are. Idk about you, but I'm soo excited about college and I just can't wait to get out of high school.

We have a number of things to worry about: college apps, rec letters, keeping up our grades, studying for APs, bearing seniorities, the list goes on.

So, how will we survive!? 101 ways...

1) Stay active and invovled- this is a great way to keep our minds of our academics and gives us something to look forward to. It's not too late to join committees. To begin with, as one of the Homecoming chairs I'll be busy until the end of Sept.

Heres my plan:
1)take only 1 AP
2)have half of my day off from school because of dual enrollment
3)only apply to a safety
4)grades? grades are easy.
and thats about it. it probably won't be as easy as i'm making it sound though. the half day off is so i can have college classes, and i'll be working.

1) Sleep 8 hours a day
2) Study for classes 6 hours a day
3) go to class for 6 hours a day
4) spend 2 hours a day doing something you enjoy (hanging out, research, a club, a sport, ping-pong, music, finding a soulmate, the usual)
5) Get a "study buddy" or three to help with your 6 APs
6) ENJOY THE WEEKENDS
7) Get a hot date for prom
8) Get another hot date for prom
9) pull off an amazing senior prank and don't get caught (or just think of one 1st semester to relieve stress).
10) GRADUATE and forget high school ever happened.

Yeah, right... that happened during my senior year. :P
Aim for six.

Advice from an '06er:
Don't think about grad/prom too much. It happens much too quickly, so just make sure you enjoy it in the moment.

We actually don't have senior prom at our school; junior prom's the "big one". we have a Senior Ball at some nice place, but not as formal.

Anyway, there's no way I'll be able to get eight hours of sleep. At most, six.
I'm only counting on a couple things to keep me sane:

Do the hard part (read: essay) of my college apps during the summer to alleviate stress in fall. Oh, and maybe some minor prepping for AP classes so that I don't flounder for the first two months because of time management issues.

Stay as active and preoccupied during the schoolyear as possible so as to distract myself from thinking about college admissions. If I keep my distances from the whole process, I won't shed as many tears come decision time.

I'm becoming a senior in september and from what you guys r saying; It doesn't look very promising

I'll be a senior, and i've got one guideline for myself: DONT PROCRASTINATE!

"a sport, ping-pong,"

Uhh Table Tennis is a sport.

senior year was great...enjoy it all, it goes by way way too fast.

yuck, i hate being a high school graduate.

practical advice - try not to procrastinate didn't work for me....work hard, party hard, find the right balance.

it's a great year :)

1) Sleep more
2) Exercise/play more sports/work out the ENTIRE year
3) Hang out with friends as much as I can
4) 2 APs at most
5) Go on vacation in some other preferably awesome country

I'm going to try for the same thing that I did junior year.

1) Sleep 9-10 hours a day
2) Play a sport that involves lying down
3) Boycott prom.
4) Consistently "forget" homework
5) Relaaaax. Stress is for ulcer-lovers.

You're all just jealous.

HS is going to be the end of a chapter in all of you lives. Enjoy it...it's a pretty daunting thought, but I hope you guys realize that you will never see most of the kids in your grade ever again. You'll never see kids that you've known for your whole lives (or a large portion of your lives). The thought can be pretty depressing, but it's the harsh reality.

The thing I am having trouble wrapping my head around is the fact that I wont be living at home full-time anymore. I guess it is kinda weird and bit immature that I have never spent more than a night away from my family.Besides that, I want to enjoy my senior year and hope its alot better than junior year.

everyone here is so smart but im so stupid why cant i be done with highschool i have to be a freshmen this year cow girl your so lucky wana switch places i wana go to harvard and you can be the freshmen gosh i dont want to be a freshmen!!!

your all lukcy i wana be a freaking senior! or a college person!!!

Man, I am going to miss high school--oh well, just have to have even more fun in college.

For you 07ers:

Don't ever sleep more than 8 hours a night. That's what history class is for. The conversations you have at one in the morning--you'll never forget.

Go out with friends every single Friday and Saturday. Come home late, or the next morning.

Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Chipotle--enough said.

Take the essay you wrote for you most prestigious university (hopefully it's your best one) and somehow use it for every other application you fill out.

Do what you love, love what you do.

If you're into prom, do that...if not, hang out with like-minded friends and spend a lot of money that night anyway. Go to post-prom if you're allowed.

Write things down.

Get as much homework as you can done during school hours (either the day it's due or the day before, doesn't matter) to increase your leisure time at home.

Realize that it's your last chance to enjoy high school. Make the most of it.

You're on CC--you're probably smart. Don't kill yourself studying.

Watch "House." -- Just because.

^^I like #11--that's what I did my senior year. As if I didn't already have enough cynicism in my life---let's add Dr. Gregory House, why don't we?

And yes, conversations at one in the morning are priceless. They last much longer than the ones that you have at eight in the morning. I had history first period last year...it was a marriage made in heaven.

1)Lunch is the time for homework. If they're going to force you to stay on campus, you might as well do your homework so that you don't have to do it when you're not forced to be on campus.
2)Graduation ceremonies are SO overrated. I spent most of mine teling blonde jokes.
3)Getting into college before everyone else is amazing. Apply somewhere with rolling admissions for the heck of it, so that you can get in two weeks later and not worry about getting into college.
3)If you have a homecoming week where you dress up and whatnot...Senior Toga Day is God's gift to mankind. Don't ever pass up the opportunity to wear a sheet to school...It facilitates sleeping in class like you wouldn't believe.
4)Make sure that you yell in the direction of at least one gaggle of freshman girls. It's really amusing when they scatter.
5)After college decisions are out, do precisely as much as you have to do to stay in your college of choice. It can become a science...and a bragging competition!
6)My advice on senior prom: Don't go, but have a killer party instead. It's much better. Getting dressed up and wearing high heels is so overrated. If you must go to prom, wear flip-flops. I'm not even kidding.
7)Don't get into very large arguments with your best friends over nothing. You're all leaving in a few months anyways. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter.
8)Don't take your senior picture standing by a white fence like EVERY OTHER senior in existence. It gets old.
9)Always wear a crown when the opportunity arises...and go to Homecoming and scream your lungs out until you can't speak. Even if your school is losing as usual.

That's it for now, those are all the things that I did wrong/right in HS off the top of my head...now on to make more mistakes in college...

any IB high school graduates out there for IB kids like me¿¿.....i hate the EE =P

gooooood idea, I need some advice on keeping my sanity this year.

1) Do NOT procrastinate. I'll make my friends beat me if it'll mean I finish apps in good time.
2) Play a sport, exercise, don't gain excess winter weight. It just ****es me off when I do so why have that extra stress?
3) Sleep as much as possible
4) Watch weekly TV! I need to relax somehow, and staring at pretty people does not seem so bad. I'm excited for Veronica Mars, House, and Greys
5) Do NOT think about college when the apps are in. Or try to distract yourself by chasing after a boy/girl, shopping, exercising, watching TV, sleeping, eating, cooking, I don't know...some how
6) Spend lots of time with friends that you won't see next year

That's about it for me.

1-101: Time Management.

That's all you really need to know.

Don't give in to senioritis. My friend successfully battled this "disease," looking at school work as a sort of game. Worked like a charm.
