Okay, by the end of Spring 2006, I will have the following:

LACC-70 Semester
Cal State LA-24 Quarter-16 Semester
UCLA(Extension, Summer and Open-Enrollment-43 Quarter-29 Semester

So yeah, 115 Semester units.

Also, I am a chemistry major applying to Berkeley and LA. Oh yeah,3 of the 115 Semester units is not transferable, so that is 112 Semester units which are transferable.

Would this be any issue with transfer??

what's ur gpa and i am chem major too.

You might have some problem, since you're going to be very well into your Junior year, and you'll almost be a senior.

If those are lower division units, does it matter? I'll have almost 90 semester units when I transfer; but they're all lower division.

This will be a big issue for transfering. Considering that it takes 120 units to graduate, you might have overdone it just a touch. For UCs I think (but am not positive) that you can't tranfer with more than 70 units.

i am pretty sure u can. I know mexbruin had over 70, got accepted to LA but rejected from SB for that very reason.

what's ur reason for having so many damn units?

Well, about 16 of those units are from AP exams. The rest are from taking 4-5 classes a semester. I heard for certain schools like UCSB are pretty picky about units, and I called up UCLA to confirm. The transfer counselor told me that if I do go over, they pick and choose what classes to count (IGETC, major requirements) and throw away the rest. It doesn't really matter to them anyway, since you're not transferring the GPA, just the units/fulfillments.

Consult Berkeley and LA individually, but I can guarantee you Berkeley is out because they don't accept students with excessive units. Look at the FAQ's for transfers and also just get that clarified with an Admission counselor, you never know....

Okay, um, of the four or so people I have talked to at my school, they have given me conflicting answers. Oh yeah, including when I called up UCLA. Uh, I have a 3.8..?

Oh my reason for having so many damn units is for the fact I am completing all the IGETC, Lower-division requirements, along with over a year of biology. And I am taking extra math courses(Linear Algebra) and some extra humanities courses(Long story). Oh yeah, usually I also try my best to take at least 21 units a semester.

Ok here's the deal: All CCC credits are ok but you have UNIVERSITY credits AND CCC credits...unfortunately that's NOT ok. For Berkeley and UCLA I think they will have a problem with this. You can still apply but your chances are not very good. I would sit down with a transfer counselor at the school you're going to now and phone/email a transfer counselor at Berkeley and UCLA.

Alright hold on. Am I the only one who noticed that you are only 14 years old?! Is that true? If so, how the heck did you amass so many freekin units man! wait sorry... I gotta ask this are you asian?

oh yeah and btw guaranteed you WILL get rejected from UCSB no if and's or but's about it. Extremely stringent on their unit cap policy and yeah it does say in the UC guidebook that do not accept applicants in "senior standing" (Combination of cc and csu units that amass for more than 90) I dunno man not 100% sure but if what they state in their guidelines is true then your'e pretty much out of luck. You'll have to try your hands at privates or just go back to csula man then you'll graduate in a year or so. Go to www.ucop.com or ucop.edu not sure which it is and read up their policy on units to clarify your question get your answer stright from the horses' mouth instead of pure speculation.

How many units do you have TODAY as opposed to SP06? If you are in spring quarter 2005, you might want to think about dropping all courses if you're at a 4 year school or extension or Open University. You may be able to save yourself from becoming a senior, which is a very bad situation for you.

Community college units are capped at 70 semester units, so you can finish up any remaining lower division requirements there. Enroll only at a California community college. Don't enroll in a 4 year school, Extension, Open University, etc. until you get accepted.

Read up on admission policies to find out why being a senior is a bad thing. And read up about "senior residency" requirements at the UC.

Of course I am Asian, haha, well Indian. Today, I have 30 units, in two weeks, I will have 51. 16 of those units are from a four-year(Cal State LA). Um, that was just open enrollment through PACE(some program) during 8th grade.

Either way....after reading what everyone has said. I concur, bottomline, it looks like you've overdone it and knocked yourself out of the running for most, if not all CC's because you will be at Senior standing.....

oops....meant to say, "UC's".

well today i have 27 units, in two weeks i will have 37. Teen weeks after that i will have 40 or 43. 17 weeks after that i will 56. Seven weeks after that i will have 59. Seventeen weeks after that i will have 72.

I am bored and i was practicing my math.

Senior standing is the stupidest description ever. He is a chem major, other than maybe Biochem, he didn't take any upper devision classes. He is not in any way ahead of most for graduating.

BTW, got to learn to use ur time and chill a little, Most CC don't let u take more than 16 units for a reason. Why take 21? Unless someone is point a gun to ur head. Was there someone doing that?

If u say u have 51 in the end of the semester, why the heck are u gona take 61 more next year and jeopardiz ur elgibility for transfering and work urself like a dog?

MOst of us are amateurs, u need to c a real conselor, maybe two to have this figured out. 115 units is almolst twice as many as u need.
