150 Hour CPA Requirement...

I live in NY and if I graduate this May, I can get my CPA with only 120 credits (I'll have 132). However, what about other states? Most have adopted the 150 credit hours before NY and the few that haven't will. If I plan on moving out of NY, will I need 150 hours elsewhere (even if I have X audit years experience and have passed the exam)?

Since, if that's the case, and I don't plan on being in NY forever, would it be beneficial to stay in school another year? Many other students are getting their masters and what not. I'd actually just need 5 credits and some other credits to take get me to 150. Actually wouldn't need say a masters in accounting like many are getting, though could do that.

But just curious about the requirements out of state and if 150 hours would still be needed.

Something like 40 out of the 50 states require 150 units, so you should get those 150 units the cheapest way you can.

Well staying at my current school would be easiest. Hell, I also don't even want my master. I would rather graduate a semester or 2 late with undergrad. I only need 2 more accounting classes after auditing. So could take like forensics and theory or something. Those would also put me up to 140 credits. Easy enough to then overload and be done by winter or go 12 and 12 and finish May '10. Since it's not a masters that's needed but 33 accounting credits, 150 overall, and some other stuff i have msotly covered anyway.
