do you think CMC is almost equal to Pomona in terms of academically qualified students, seeing as Pomona's acceptance went from 18% to 16%, while CMC went from 22% to 16%? What do you see this to mean?

Can't tell until you see the yield. CMC was overenrolled last year - they accepted too many who actually enrolled. This year, they again received a boatload of apps, but intentionally accepted a much lower percentage because they want to guard against overenrollment. We'll see if they need to use the wait list.

I do not think that the quality of a school can be judged by an acceptance rate- especially this year. Dont' get me wrong, I'm from CMC. The value of my education just went up enormously. I just don't think that the percent accepted indicates the academic quality of an institution.

i think that they are pretty much equal anyway, regardless of the percentages... i mean, even if you are using the not-so-good us news ranks, theres only what, a seperation of 4 spots? theyre both good overall, and both excel in different departments
