160 GB enough for os x and windows?

I'm leaning toward buying the 2.26 Hz Macbook Pro for college. Should I get an upgraded 250GB or 320 GB Macbook Pro? I plan on boot-camping Windows Vista and upgrading to Windows 7 when it releases and upgrading to the Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

Is 160GB enough to run both Windows 7 and Snow Leopard?

Thanks for your help.

320 is usually worth it. in the long term.

and yeah, but you’re likely better off installing windows with much less available space than your mac os. you’re likely going to end up using the mac os way more than windows.

I believe a normal Vista install will take up 14gb of your hard drive, so take that into consideration when partitioning your drive. I heard a recommendation of a 25gb partition somewhere, but that’s all variable upon what you’ll be using Windows for. Not sure how much slimmer Windows 7 is compared to Vista.

Snow Leopard will shave off (I believe) 4gb from the Leopard OS footprint, though, which is nice, once it’s released.

I personally upgraded to 250gb. I have a large music library, and didn’t want to risk running out of space.

ust in terms of the operating systems 160 GB is fine, if you have music, videos or anything else that will be what takes up a lot of space.

Right now I am running Windows 7 on a 19.5 GB partition and without any programs I had around 5 or 6 GB free I believe

160GB is definitely enough, as long as you don’t like to stockplie massive amounts of pictures, movies or songs. But in almost all cases, you’ll be fine.
