This applies for those with bad writing scores that drag down decent math and CR scores in the total score. Apparently some colleges actually don't care much about writing. I got a list of pretty good colleges: College of William and Mary, Georgetown, Lehigh, Northwestern, Rice, U of Chicago, Amherst, U Michigan, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Wheaton. Although i don't know for sure if this list is 100%. should i apply just because my 1600 scaled score (CR and math) look better than my total score? I have a competitive GPA, hard classes, 1480/2150, meh to decent ec's, and alright essays.

670 is not a bad writing score. If you like the schools, apply! There’s no hurt in trying.

thanks, but i think it is because it really drags down my total score, oh well

670 is a fine score. Schools like William and Mary only look at CR+M anyway. They believe your college essays are more indicative of your writing abilities than a 25 minute test on a Saturday. Don’t let that stop you from applying. Don’t forget to add match and safety schools though that you can afford. Most of those schools are not matches or safeties for most people with the exception of possibly wheaton. Also you should have ones that you know are affordable
