1760 to 2250+

lol I also need to raise from 17xx to at least 2100. 400 points may be possible but rare. What I need to improve the most is CR. M and W I can get at least 600 each. I don't want my score to be lopsided.

i started from 1430 to high 20s to low 21's .
700 pts +
i started hard core prep for like 7-8 months now, so if u're just starting now,and u dont study really hard, sorry dude no miracle =l

holy crap Ren, hard core prep for 7-8 months? LOL dude..how do you not exhaust your supply of tests. I started prepping in July and I thought that was slightly early, because I deplete tests fast, so I've had to ration them. DAM nice dedication though, hope that pays off.

@poster, dude why did you post here?
lol

Well, to crush all weird repliers here, I got 1950 first time round, and 2300 next time... and the reason was first time I had no idea what the SAT was like, I just took one mock test, and never took the SAT seriously at that time; I even slept at 3 am the day before the SAT first time!

So listen to everyone's advice, but finally follow your self. You can do it.

I'm sorry quix. I forgot that 60x9=600. I guess I know why I failed my CR now. Silly me thinking that 60x10=600

And no, I didn't prepare extensively for the SAT the second time either but I took a few tests, better prepared for the enemy ;)

I've heard jumping up from 1700 or so to around 2250 is difficult, but completely doable. I'm kind of in the same boat as you, TC, but with a lower score (1690). I know my mistakes:

I didn't study.
I didn't take the test seriously.
I didn't know what to expect.
And probably several more excuses that will not be entertained by the 2200+ scorers on the board.

And I see the ramifications of my actions. With a little bit of prep, I could probably get in the 1800s.

You started with a 1760-next time, aim for a 1900. Perhaps you will do better, perhaps not. From there, you can work up to your desired score.

Good luck, and take solace in the fact that not everyone here is perfect (though it seems like nearly everyone is...), and know that working hard pays off, or so I hear.

This site is just amazing, I am an incoming junior, I've just been taking some practice tests lately and my scores range btw 1880-1920. I don't even think I'll be able to pull my score above a 2000 by the time i graduate. Taking the test for the first time in November, lets see what happens.

People on this site have really given me a lot of hope, I'd be ecstatic if I cross the 2100 barrier :(

seriously, Impossible is nothing

kyoko went fro 350 to 800 on CR which is unbelievable

I went from 500 to high 600s in CR which is also a relatively high increase

Don't let any ahole put you down. Put your mind to it and you can do anything.

Thanks for the positive replies. I'm surprised to see some positive feedback most of the time I mostly see negative.

shiomi, i spent like 2 months memorizing vocabs lol, then i started working on pr 11, barrons, and kaplans. that time i didn't know this cc community, so basically i was doing blind-studying. suprise i didn't used any cb materials lol.
so yeah in the summer i pwned bb, did cr and w 2 times, few more weeks left till oct, i still gotta redo onlne course writing section, and 10 rs math and cr, and 6 more qas, then im done.
yes!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait ><!

it may be possible if your english is not your first language, and you have been in America for only a few months.

Oh..I don't use anything that's not CB...

yeah i kinda did the same thing after i found this site lol. i never looked at pr barrons and kaplans again.

Yes I'm not native english speaker.

The first time I did a CR practice was in my freshman year. I can only get like the first two questions for sentence completion, and reading the passage doesn't seem to make a difference in answering the passage questions. To me, every choiced seemed right...

I memorized Kaplan vocab and then did their practice tests (mostly the PSAT then, I just did the SAT to see how much harder it is). I'm similar to Ren lol, I' never thought of doing official CB tests before I came to this website.

^, looks like you're walking the same path as i did lol.

last yr oct i took the sat, cr is like #$%^, all the choices look the same, lol, i thought i'll never beat this. but throughout the yr,i read few books, did vocabs, concentrate on writing MC, then i look at Cr again, its actually easier,i can elilminate alot of answers, then i did CR prep this summer, my score went up again xD
wait what?! u got 800 cr???
danggg, good job bro

I got a 169 PSAT soph year and 198 PSAT junior year

I got a 2140 on the real SAT first try junior year, and a 34 on the ACT first try.

My advice is to not make excuses and prepare earnestly from the start. That was largely my problem, as I rationalized to myself that I was smarter than the 169 without realizing that I truly hadn't done anything for the test.

Get to work and maybe you can improve to a 2250. Btw dont listen to all the A holes on this thread, I know a kid who started with a 1700 on a Kaplan test (yes dreaded Kaplan) and ultimately got a 1600/2340 on the real thing only a month afterward.

Rfern seems confused.

I don't have official 800's on SAT I's yet :)
