2070 SAT I?! Oh my Lord?! How can I improve to 2300+ in 9 months and 27.371 days!

My terrible SAT score is as follows: 660 CR/ 710 M/ 700 WR.

This disgusting score was done without any prep. How possible is it to improve to 2300+ in 9 months and 27.371 days, ideally a 2400? I can study 3 hours on each weekday, 6 hours on each weekday, and 8 hours everyday in the summer. Resources, advice, anything?! I really want to get into HYPMS, so obviously it is crucial that I ace the SAT (2300+).

It’s fascinating. I went up from a 1430 to a 1690 in 1.5 months so you have an outstanding example to follow.

O.o
You got the same scores as me :O, except I got a 640 CR. Also, you have same goal as me. Weird.

did u do any prep beforehand?

if so - GG
if not - 2300+ = easy as pie

I did not have prep, and I was sleep deprived the day before.

^

Then a 2300 should be easy?

What does GG mean?

why dont you just study and find out?

put it this way. my first sat was a 1980, and i was not sleep deprived.

^What was your highest score then, and how long did you study to obtain it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw your 2400. Dude, going from a 1980 to a 2400 is AMAZING? How long did you study, and what resources do you recommend me study from?

I went to Elite during summer, got to around 2200s, then studied for 2 weeks by doing about a test a day to bring it up to 2400.

Note: I slept in Elite and never did any packets. The increase only came from memorizing their vocab. (I sucked really bad at it)

I’m almost certain that you’re a ■■■■■… but if you’re not, just do more practice tests and review your mistakes. Durrr.

To clarify: 2070 isn’t horrible, or “disgusting” for that matter.

Instead of spending 3 hours/weekday, 6 hours/week(end?), and 8 hours/day in the summer doing SAT prep, why don’t you focus on your ECs with that time instead? If your goal is HYPSMC, unless you have some incredible legacy behind you, a 2400 with no ECs to back it up is an almost guarenteed rejection.

However, if you do believe in studying several hundred, maybe thousand, hours for your SAT, by all means do so. I really do hope you have fun with your SAT prep over the next nine months.

How is 2070 considered horrible? I would kill to get 1800+ on the SAT…

^ Trust me: 2070 is horrible… I’ve had my parents and plenty of classmates laugh at my disgusting score, simply because my score is not up to par with Ivy standards. When you have a dream of attending HYPS, a 2070 isn’t going to cut it. I’m going to work for a 2300+ just to be qualified, and “average”.

@1x612nt13

Someone needs to take a chill pill. I already have my fair share of extracurriculars. But I need to make it my priority to get high scores first. The scores are what qualify me for HYPS, the ECs are what complete me… As the legendary silverturtle once said: “A wooden table with fruits and delicacies cannot stand without its legs”.

^damn.

tenchar

If a mentally handicapped person can increase his SAT score by 260 points in 1.5 months I’m not sure whether this should be considered a miracle or a omen that doomsday is nearing.

GG means good game.

I doubt Suleyman is mentally handicapped, despite all the grief people give him (unless he has said so and I just don’t know).

2070 is not a horrible score. Sure, higher is better, but chillax broski.

Were you falling asleep during the test or something? If so, you really don’t have much to worry about; I’m sure you can boost your score 200 points effortlessly if you stay awake during your next try.

@EdwardElric

I think your standards of “average” are fubar. Well over 99% of college undergrads don’t attend an Ivy League and seem to live life fine. If you do have high goals, good for you. I’m not trying to pull you down and say “Don’t go to an Ivy League”. By all means, reach for the stars.

As for your supposed 2070, it is enough for Ivy Leagues if you have solid, dedicated, and amazing ECs to back it up. However, if you think you can improve, you should go for it (and if your ECs aren’t amazing).

What catches my eye, EdwardElric, is that you just joined today. Apparently, you’re also 99 years old. You remind me of Jozhekryx. ■■■■■■ at their finest. :)
