1st sem. senior grades--applying ED. do they matter?

So, for applying ED/EA are first quarter grades (the grading period before the ED/EA deadline...but generally doesn't go on transcript) looked at by colleges?

I remember from somewhere that they might be looked at instead of 1st semester for ED/EA but I'm not sure if I hallucinated that or not.
Thanks for your help!

OK, well I am in no way an expert on this, so don't completely believe me. But I have heard that if an admissions decision has not been made yet by the time first quarter grades are out, then you can mail them to the school as sort of "supplemental" information. If I did that, I would most definitely call the school to keep an eye out for my grades, so that they know who's file to put it in.

Again, I would check this info for accuracy.

I don't think so. I know first semester grades don't count and most schools (here anyway) only go by semesters. Jay123's advice might be right though. I would look into that.

if you're deferred, they'll matter.

They say that if you are admitted ED that is based on your work through junior year, but still keep the grades up in case you are deferred. And even if you are admitted your grades have to be decent, not up to the level they were but decent, to stay admitted.

It's not particularly unusual for colleges to call your GC and ask for your first quarter grades.
