1st week of college?

Hello! I'm a rising senior in high school, but I've been so excited about college since freshmen year! I'm definitely looking forward to meeting new people and getting involved in social stuff, and I was just wondering what was your first week of college like? How was it meeting your roomate/did you guys do anything fun on campus, how/where did you meet some of your first friends, were there any events held on the floor of your dorm? I guess I'm just super curious and can't wait for about a year when I'll be moving to college! Thanks for any responses or fun stories!

There were some Welcome Back activities, like a dance, and the RA’s did get-to-know-you games. I don’t remember much of that, though; I mostly remember classes.

I ate some food and watched some TV. I also read some books. And I got a job.

Well my school has a pretty good concert the weekend before school starts so it’s a good way to kick in the school year. The rest of that week was figuring out how to get to classes, meeting the people on my dorm floor and figuring out what stuff I wanted to do in college. I pretty quickly decided that I was going to rush and got the ball moving from there.

We had Welcome Week, which involved a bunch of activities put on by the university, local clubs, and organizations. There was literally something going on for like 18 hours of the day from Move-In Day all the way until the start of classes.

My hall had a hall meeting where we did some ice breakers and introduced ourselves. The university had a “First Night Carolina” celebration which some of the sports teams were at. It was also a dance party. They had a bunch of cool activities in the evening (photo booth, t-shirt making, food, etc).

A lot of the local churches and church groups on campus sponsored events. The baptist church put on a rave, another church did a Wal-Mart run, my church group went to get pizza, go bowling, and go river tubing.

Most of my friends ended up coming from classes and my dorm. My closest friends lived on my hallway. I didn’t really meet many people that I’m still in touch with during Welcome Week, but I also didn’t do that much.

Thanks for the responses! Sounds like the first week was exciting!
