I will be graduating by 2015. So I have 2 years left. I've failed two classes with D and F, I am retaking both classes, and the F will not be be figured into my GPA since I will be getting A in the class. Anyway, my life is pretty much screwed with this low GPA especially in my major. At this point what kind of jobs would I be able to get when I graduate with a low GPA? What should I do?

Your life is not screwed. What kind of job/s would you like to do?

Something that involves looking at a lot of data, creating models, lots of analysis and that fortune 500 company being dependent upon my advice.

Can you program?

I GRADUATED with a GPA similar to yours…and was an applied math major. I did take about 85% of the CS program too (as electives) and now in year 23 of software engineering.

I suggest becoming friends with the CS chair so you can get some approvals for CS courses :-)

Your life is hardly screwed. No need to be medodramatic :)

Retake those classes, or other ones you have gotten Cs in. Do better in the future. Take some easy classes to boost your GPA up. At my community college, most people see a 2.X as an excellent thing. It says a lot about you that you’re concerned - it’s a good thing.

If your GPA is poor, just don’t put it on your resume when you graduate and apply for jobs, simple as that Focus on coursework and internship experience instead.

I did applied math and have had jobs in systems engineering and software engineering. I recommend picking up some programming classes along the way these next few year to help you land a job when you graduate.

Specifically focus on Web Development. The field is evolving so much that companies don’t even really need web developers to have degrees anymore (even CS programs can’t completely keep up with how rapidly the latest web development trends evolve). My buddy who majored in English is the lead frontend developer at his company; they just need people who know the stuff these days.
