Hi I'm a senior in high school with a GPA of 2.78 (last time i checked was the end of junior year) I want to get into Syracuse but i dont know if i can. My only extra curricular activity is being on the tennis team, should i volunteer somewhere or do something else right now? I'm also trying to bring up my GPA to a 3 or better. So what do i do?

syracuse may be really tough for you with 2.78 gpa…
i think you’d better to look for some SUNY schools like
oswego potsdam

Well, based on only this information, I would say that you are probably not going to get in. Even if you are taking the hardest possible course load, a 2.78 gpa is still pretty bad. I mean, you do have a chance, just not a very good one. It depends how you come off in your essays. And you are going to need some really good test scores.

chance me back?

If your SATs are over 1300/1600 or 2000/2400 then you have a chance if not the no.

I checked out their SAT scores for incoming freshmen and it was in the range 1100-1300 I did above 1300 on that. So you think it’ll come down to my essay?

it doesn work out like
high sat covers low GPA
gpa is gpa and sat is sat.

so it will be really hard for u to get in.
what the admissions officers do first is to cut out low gpa ppl
and then cut out low sat ppl, and then look through the applications.

Alright i get it, thank you everyone for replying to this thread. Off to go stress now.
