<p>So I have a dilemma. One of my best friends just got his second referral. He is somewhat mediocre in terms of academics, but our school is one of the most competitive in the state. Well, will the two referrals keep him out of top tier schools?</p>
<p>Are you talking about your friend or yourself?</p>
<p>what's a referral?</p>
<p>basically when you get in trouble they write a referral (theyre "referring" you to the office). Most applications ask about suspensions don't they? I don't know what your school policy on referrals is but if he's not getting suspended he should be alright, I believe.</p>
<p>Referals are bad....really bad</p>
<p>oh so under you Pubic Profile, referrals refer to how many people reported you?</p>
<p>"Pubic Profile" lol! Sorry, couldn't help but point that out.</p>
<p>Anyways, referrals don't really matter.. they don't usually go into your records.</p>
<p>we have referrals in my school... they dont have much value though because we have really mean securiy guards who give it to you for EVERYTHING
(being late for school even by one minute, chewing gum, wearing shoes without backs, going to your locker at nondesignated times, eating anywhere but the cafeteria, having a cell phone, talking loud in the hallways)
and teachers can give referrals if you are disruptive, late for class, etc. also you get them for not following the dress code (which is horrible- like you cant wear sleeveless shirts! i understand the no-mini skirt policy (because its inappropriate), but since when were shoulders so sexay? huh? tell me!!
so anyway, if we have a certain number of referrals (the number goes up every year because of inflation LOL), we cant go to schol events/be on teams/go to prom/go on trips etc.
oh yeah, also you can work them off, but it takes like 3 hours of school service to get rid of one, i heard
and im not sure if they go on our transcript</p>
<p>i have no referrals!! woot woot</p>
<p>we dont have any referrals
people are sent to the office plenty of times
they get a cup of water or candy or whatever kind of food is in the office, principal/vice principal says don't do it again, they sit a while so it seems that they're getting a hard long lecture, and then they go back to class
a lot of times they hang out and chat with the senior office aids
but we do have in school suspension
and then out of school suspension
oh yeah if you get 3 tardies you can get saturday school</p>
<p>Well, at different schools a 'referral' can mean different things. We don't really have any, but I've had a few after-school detentions (the least action possible) for chewing gum and being tardy and stuff.</p>
<p>will colleges see if i got a deficiency? meaning that in the middle of the quarter I was failing, but by the end I pulled it back up..</p>
<p>Well, at the end of that quarter, your grades were probably a litle low, but I don't <em>think</em> that midterms, or grades at any other time than at the end of a quarter, go on your transcript. That probably varies school-to-school.</p>
