I'm currently in my freshman year, and realized that my Math class that I am currently taking right now doesn't apply to my major, plus I already have math Credits, same with my Chem 2 class. I wanted to know if taking a W on courses that one of which I already have a grade and the other I haven't been doing that great in. I'm not making this a habit or anything. They dont hurt my GPA or anything; just realizing they are not needed. I am a Pol Sci major btw.

Ok, now argue the other side :-)

The other side would say. “Why would you take the courses if one, you already had credit, and two if you didn’t feel the need to finish them out what makes you think you will finish Law school?” My answer is I had taken the credits because I was interested in keeping my door open to other things, such as Computer Sci; though after realizing that I am not blessed with math and science genes, I wish to pursue things that I know and have a previous track record of being good at. Also not to mention college is a time to learn about who you are and who you want to be. I don’t see why we penalize students for changing their minds. Human beings do it all the time with their jobs; if college is considered the young adults “job,” aren’t we entitled to the same amount of hey this isn’t what I really want to do moments?

FWIW, #2 works for me.

as long as it is not a W-F, it will have no effect on LS apps.

You’re fine, a W > a B/C.
