2004 psat cutoff for commended

what is the cutoff for commended on the 2004 psat

Ok... I'm right around the cutoff for being commended, so I checked the forum for information on whether I should expect to make it with a 201 in Ohio.

Here's a little bit of what I found... everyone says something different:

190+ is a pretty good estimate for most states and 200+ is basically a garuntee

I think a 200 Selection Index (CR+M+W) was the cutoff for Commended last year.

From what I can figure out, the cutoff for NM commended usually is about 200.

I believe (not sure though) that the commended student cutoff is top 5 percent in your state, so 96 may make it. However, i think that they alredy came out so...

Commended cutoff is 201 nationally.
Semifinalist status is determined by state, with different cutoffs for each state.
With a 203 you are definitely "commended" - check with your guidance counselor for the official confirmation. (Only those with at least commended status were asked to designate the two schools earlier this year.) The commended "certificates" are given out by the schools, and not mailed to you directly. My son just got his commended certificate two days ago.

So it doesn't matter what state you're in--201 is the cutoff. California has an outrageously high cutoff score of 214-216 (Well, for me...it's high).

If so, I'm so happy. Last year I fell asleep halfway through and couldn't concentrate, but scraped by with a 190 as a sophomore.

SO -- is it by state? or national? does it change every year? is it the top 5 percent? Bah. I was 96% percentile and had a 201 (in Ohio)... what should I expect?

Someone PLEASE clarify this... thanks.

national... changes every year... top 5 percent... most likely from 199-201

cujoe, thanks.

anyone know what it's been for the past few years?

also, when was the last time a 201 did NOT make it?

any info appreciated

thanks

i think that was 2002* if i'm not mistaken... u'll probably get it
