royrules22. don't be fooled that mudd accepts 35% of people. you're looking at a pre-selected pool.

I'm also suprised to see so many people applying to 10 or more.. thats insane. I couldn't deal with that.. I know what I'm looking for. Urban, liberal, and relatively close to home. I applied to six universities.

2 "safeties": University of Toronto, McGill
2 "matches": Boston University, Northwestern (except NU is probably a reach now considering the record number of applications this year)
2 "reaches": University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown

My daughter applied to 10 total schools. 3 she considered "safeties" 1 reach and others expected/hopeful admission.

Quoi? What do you mean? You suggest it's harder to get in to Mudd than it seems?

less than 60k is poor? well I guess I'm poor and I still have an efc>50k.

mine was 640.

I applied to exactly 10 universities in California (both public and private) as a transferring student to Junior level.

I applied to 7 (2 reach, 1 slight reach, 2 match, 2 safety) and have been accepted to 5.

Applied to 10.

4 Reach
3 Match
3 Safety

5 of them were UCs.

I applied to 10 all along the upper east coast

10 schools: 3 reach, 4 match, 3 safety

I applied to nine.
4 of them (Amherst, Pomona, Wellesley and Williams) were through Quest Bridge. No app fee, test scores faxed through, it was a great opportunity.
The other 5(Kenyon, Oberlin, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, and Yale) were common app.
I received an early write from Swarthmore but I don't really know what you would consider my schools. I would say most were match-reaches with Yale being a super reach.

Applied to 7.

4 safeties
3 match-ish

I can't imagine more than 10. My guidance counselor thought I was insane for 7. Then again, it would probably be different if I had applied to reaches.

i applied to 9

2 safeties
7 reaches

most were through the common app. missouri's was so easy i did that in 10 mins. no essay; no extracurricular activities; really simple. everyone thought i was crazy applying to that many places but it's hard to just pick one to apply too...and your chances vary from college to college

My D applied to four schools.

I WENT TO PACE UNIVERSITY IN NYC AND GRADUATED IN THE FALL OF 1996. SINCE THEN, MY TRANSCRIPT HAS BEEN ON HOLD DUE TO PRIOR BALANCE. I NOW WANT TO GO BACK TO PACE TO DO A BSN/MS IN NURSING, BUT THE ADMISSION OFFICE ASKED ME TO PAY OFF MY PRIOR BALANCE. ARE THERE ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP PEOPLE ME LIKE ME TO GET A TRANSCRIPT RELEASED?

I BADLY NEED HELP. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

13, got accepted by 2 (WashingtonU SL and USC), rejected by 2 (UCLA and MIT) others pending. i dont get it, how come i got accepted by WashingtonU but rejected by UCLA? is it because UCLA's picky about international students?

i only applied to two!!!!! accepted to both. why are people applying to so many?

8

2 safe
2 match
4 reach

gc only wanted kids at my school to do 6 because of the workload his office has! but my mom insisted that I get to apply to dream schools if I wanted to.
and she was right. i would feel so cheated right now if i had not tried.

I applied to 7, 5 of which I knew I had a good chance at. Now I end up with acceptance to schools that I don't really want to go to, and wasted a couple hundred dollars.

A lot of people who I know were underestimating their chances at some schools and applied to 5 or 6 safety schools. They told me that if they could do the whole process over again, they would have applied to "harder" schools that they had less of a chance at, instead of wondering if they could have gotten in or not.
