2006 UC Berkeley Law School Admission Rates

2006 UC Berkeley Law School Admission Rates

Graduating Seniors
Number of Applicants: 183
Number of Applicants Accepted: 149
Acceptance Rate: 81%

Here are some specifics:

Yale University
Number of Applicants: 23
Number of Applicants Accepted: 1
Average LSAT of Accepted: 171
Average GPA of Accepted: 3.89

I was actually surprised by the number accepted because on the Yale Law website, it says there are 16 students from Berkeley now. This is higher than some ivies such as Cornell, 6, and Dartmouth, 13.

Stanford University
Number of Applicants: 37
Number of Applicants Accepted: 3
Average LSAT of Accepted: 170
Average GPA of Accepted: 4.00

I think they value GPA more than the LSATs at Stanford for Berkeley students

Harvard University
Number of Applicants: 40
Number of Applicants Accepted: 5
Average LSAT of Accepted: 173
Average GPA of Accepted: 3.93

Same comment about Harvard that I had on Yale

Keep in mind that the numbers presented on the Cal career site are just for graduating seniors. Not everybody applies as a graduating senior. Plenty of people work for a period of time and * then * decide to apply to law school.

I think these stats are a bit misleading. Most schools, with the exception of HYS and Berk (GPA whores), take a high LSAT into account much more than a high gpa. With that said, I think someone with a 3.5 + 170 could get into 7 or 8 of the top 14 law schools.
