River Phoenix: "I don't like the way they TIE the tech-ish schools, MIT Caltech Stanford together
It's almost like an attempt to specialize, homogenize, and discredit them"

I'm sure it was nothing more than coincidence based on the data they plugged in (of course, if you see tweeking of the methodology then there is a slight possibility, but I would highly doubt it).

The 2005 edition was orange; the 2006 yellow. The 2005 edition, like the 2006, says exclusive rankings of over 1,400 schools. Somehow I doubt that US News came up with another 500 schools for 2007. So I suspect it is the US news advertisement using the 1,900 figure that is wrong.

Haha I guess I can see why people wouldn't believe me, but I'm really not the kind of person to make up all those lists and photoshop all those pictures (what fun is there in that?). You can see from my previous posts that I am a serious poster, not some troll. Sorry the pictures weren't legible- they were taken by my camera phone (it's all I can do, sorry). I promise you all that these are real, but if you don't believe me then just wait a couple more days for them to come out- then you'll see that I was telling the truth. :p

calidan could you please put the top undergraduate rankings for engineering of universities with a Phd program and if you don't mind tell me what's Stanford rank in Chemical engineering

You kids are way too insecure...honestly, what's the difference between going to the #7 school and the #3 school. These rankings are stupid and pointless. GRADUATE SCHOOLS DON'T CARE WHERE YOU GO FOR UNDERGRAD AS LONG AS YOU DON'T GO TO ITT TECH.

Calidan, I suspect I might owe you an apology for my own doubts. I'm afraid that I haven't read your other posts but I accept your statement of sincerity! Would you be willing to try taking another clearer digital image of the rankings?

LOL thanks for the apology, Pton. It's not really needed- if I hadn't posted these myself, I may not have believed them!

Unfortunately all I have is my old camera phone, and the pictures I posted earlier were the best ones I could get. I'll see if I can find a digital camera, but I'm fairly sure I don't have one.

I agree with you dan; not to mention questioning the rushed importance of getting this info now vs next week. It's not like any knowledge needs to be known immediately to make any decisions or that any decisions should be made based on this info or that last year's info suddenly isn't reliable enough anymore.

Exactly. Also, I'm very skeptical that a university could actually change so much in one year. For example, Chicago- what makes it so much better this year than last? This is not to say it shouldn't be ranked so high- I just don't think universities can change so drastically in only one year! Perhaps if they had received a huge donation, or created an entirely new undergraduate school this could happen- but they didn't, so what changed? The rankings are dubious, at best- just my opinion! :)

Sorry, I actually don't have the rankings with me right now (I'm at work- and yes, I'm on CC! Work is boring and I'm sitting in front of a computer, so I'm just passing the time).

Like Chicago, BC jumped 6 spots in one year. Switching from the Big East to the much-more-high-profile ACC is one thing that significantly changed in the past year (and probably helped raise the # of applications and lower its acceptance rate). Did U of Chicago have any sort of drastic change comparable to that?

Believe it or not, most of the world doesn't care about these rankings. The only people who follow USNews Report Rankings are colleges themselves, teenage kids, and their parents. And even then, only a small percentage know the date when the rankings are released.
