wait....within the next week?

The list is up on the PScholars website. Congrats to all who made it in. Hopefully we won't have any more essays to write :/.

Congrats to all semifinalists!

I am glad my son is in.

Congrats to you all for getting it done and being successful! It's a bit ironic that I started this thread; my S decided not to go through the application process. A few of his friends made the semi's though, so that's nice.

Same boat, rainmama. I posted like a madwoman on this thread as some of us tried to unravel the mysteries of "Scholargate." But my son, too, said ix-nay to the essays.

My S also rejected the incredibly cumbersome application process; he said wasn't interested in a trip to DC for a photo op with Bush. I'm surprised the program gets any takers with so many essays at a time in the school year when kids are busiest.

Congrats to everyone on the list!! So what's the next step...more essays? I hope not :P

Awards - Presidential Scholars Program

Congrats to all those who made semifinalist. You're almost there. Only 2 more essays (at least that's how it was in 2006).

Essay #1: Your personal statement for inclusion in the PS yearbook. Try not to sound goofy--if selected, this essay and your picture will be posted on-line at the ed (that's education department, not the other ed) and presidentialscholars.org web sites forever.

Essay #2: A short essay on how you've helped others through community service, etc. Only the best of these are included in the yearbook.

As I recall, these 2 essays don't affect your chances of being selected, they're just needed "in case" you're selected. At least that was the story in 2006.

Yay for being a semifinalist...

very big boo for more essays. Congrats to everyone, though!

Part two:
Anti-private school bias? In DC, of the original 40 candidates, 32 attend private schools; however, of the 6 semi-finalists, only 3 attend private schools (2 in other states). Seems strange...

D1 got the semi-finalist notification today - are the essays REALLY optional? What's the scoop?

Is there any way to view this without have Word installed?

Contacted PSP today and was told that scholars will be posted on the website tomorrow!

wow, tomorrow! thats intense. You think they'll have it up in the morning?

See other thread--scholars posted today

one of my friends made finalist!

so i'm a sophomore that just got a 36 on the ACT. will my score count for recognition in 2 years, or do i have to retake?

i'm in WI, with a 36-36-36-34 36. just in case that makes a difference :D

so ...who is a finalist?

Glad to see a very nice girl from my D's HS on the final list. :-)

I was chosen! I'm so excited!
