<p>Do any past winners/semifinalists want to share tips an hints? :)</p>

<p>I’m wondering the same thing. Not thinking I have much chance of getting this.</p>

<p>How are students nominated for this program?</p>

<p>Its based on SAT/ACT test scores. The top 30 boys and girls from each state are selected, with a lot of ties.</p>

<p>I got the letter. I talked with the other person at my school who also got the letter and I don’t think either of us plan on applying.</p>

<p>Too much effort for no $.</p>

<p>Yeah, I got nominated from Massachusetts. The app was incredibly tedious, especially since there is no money involved. It took at least 8 hours to complete, even after copying and pasting some college essays where relevant.</p>

<p>My son was a Presidential Scholar four years ago. The only tip is that your chances are better than you might think because a lot of people don’t fill out the application.</p>

<p>I would say that the experience was worth it for him.</p>

<p>They have a Facebook page and last year they announced the semifinalist on it on April 9- so I am hoping for this coming Monday (and then hoping my son’s name is on it!)</p>

<p>Received an email reply today that the semi-finalists will be named on Monday April 15.</p>

<p>I got a reply to a question I sent them on Facebook and was given the Monday date also.</p>

<p>Does anyone know if there is anything to do between now and the finalist announcement? Do they just pick the finalist from the essays and applications already submitted or is there another step?</p>
