correction to the ranking above: yo Penn is tied with Caltech for 5th place, despite so much anger about this ranking. I guess when the editor-in-chief of US News and World Report is a Wharton grad, there's not much you can do ^_^

Or maybe Penn just isn't worse than Cal Tech (a school with like 7 majors)

This thread reminds me of those baseball caps that read...." I am surrounded by idiots"

This thread needs to die. Enuff said.

it's John*s* Hopkins

Regarding alumni giving:

That's better than the current method.

Agree, barrons. The current method lets people give $1 and be counted towards the total. It just rewards schools that have more money to hire staff to call the phone lists.

"Cal Tech (a school with like 7 majors)"

Hmm, obviously you can't count. A common reason why one might have an inferiority complex towards Caltech.

""Cal Tech (a school with like 7 majors)""

Hmm obviously you can't detect things such as exaggeration/hyperbole

Isseidazo: actually, the editor-in-chief of USNWR, Mort Zuckerman, has a bachelor's degree, and law degree from McGill University. He received a Master's of Law from Harvard, and an MBA from Wharton.

I, of course, think that Caltech is the biggest joke of a "national university" ranked so highly on the list....

what is COE? it is a college in that link above - posterx

does that cohe have a wb site?

Chronicle of Higher Education.

please keep this thread alive until august 17th 2008!

These rankings are all ********, I like how Caltech went from 7 in 1999 to 1 in 2000.
