2009 fees

hey, im not from the states, but considering future study there and just wondered what the average fee for tuition is per year? don't really know alot about this

This varies greatly by the school. Whether it is ‘public’ or ‘private’, even within such categories tuition may be spread across a vast chasm.

Check CollegeBoard for some decent information on tuition between different schools, and the majors they offer… and test scores etc. etc. <a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board;

Tuition varies anywhere from $5,000 to $35,00 a year. There are also some scholarships and need-based financial aid that reduce the price of tuition to make it more affordable.

wow, 35k a year? how do people afford that? our fees are subsidised here so everyone only usually pays between 4-6k a year. but all international students have to pay full price of about 16k.

Being wealthy/aid/loans

isnt it something like 60-70k a year to go to usc?

the prices can be extremely high

Including room and board, many private universities (including USC) charge around $50,000 a year. But the OP only asked for tuition.

35K? That would just cover tuition. Try upwards of 50-62K for everything (without financial aid).

No school is $62,000…

Well, the OP inquired about tuition fees only:

I agree with diontechristmas that no school will charge you $62,000 a year. $62,000 seems like a high estimate, but international students do have some extra expenses that need to be taken into account: health insurance ($2,000 a year for decent coverage), a few round-trip airfares a year depending on how often they want to go home during break (possibly more than $1,000 per trip depending on the destination), maybe you need to get some dental work done that is not covered by insurance (add another $1,000), etc. And if you want to go to school in NYC, housing will be very very very expensive…
