Any 2009 medical doctor wannabe's here? What's your major?

i am one and my major is eecs

i'm going for it, i think i'm gonna try to somehow do business to without screwing myself over... think its possible?

Double major physics and math probably going to change it

Signed up for cognitive science now, probably change to neurobio or something.

It's tough to be a non-science member and still go pre-med because the classes you need to study for the MCATs satisfy almost all the requirements for a biology major. This is why some huge percentage of med school admits are bio majors. Also, med schools require around 50 science units minimum, so if you really want to do something like economics too, might as well work your tail off for a double major.

This site lists the major requirements and recommendations of UCSF right across the bay from Berkeley. If you're serious about pre-med check it out. It has interesting recommendations. e.x. they prefer chem courses designed for chem majors (Chem 4 instead of Chem 1) even if you're not a chem major.

Anyways, thats my two cents worth. Take it or leave it.

Molecular Biology sound on target as a good major to declare?

I think I'll do one major. I don't want to overwhelm myself and score low on the MCAT. Just take it slow, understand everything, get a good GPA, get a few interns/papers in, and do well on the test.

Oh and also. I was wondering.. I want to be a psychiatrist. So, would a major in psychology instead of biology up my chances? Or do they teach all the psychology stuff in med school anyways?

going pre-med into cal as neurobio + philosophy minor (purely for interest).
