<p>Being dedicated to a few ECs is preferable to being superficially involved in twelve. It sounds as though you will be fine.</p>

<p>Wait, so same essay for all colleges using CommonApp? Hope not!</p>

<p>Putturani: From what I understand, you will send an essay answering one of the six questions of the Common Application. </p>

<p>However, if the colleges you’re looking at have supplemental essays, you’ll have to answer those as well, separately.</p>

<p>Silly question, but how do you fill out the signature portion of the common app? Do you just type your name or scan your signature in to your computer?</p>

<p>You just type your name in, just as you would on a regular document, but instead of signing it, you’ll end up typing your name.</p>

<p>If you are in an activity like Band which is more time consuming in the Fall, less in the winter, and then in the Spring there is a 4 day trip, how do you write hours per week?</p>

<p>^ Write an average.</p>

<p>Thank you (10 char)</p>

<p>I have done fairly well on 8 AP exams and 6 SAT II subject tests. Would I just have to report these scores in an attached resume, or should I just leave them out and just mail the colleges my score reports?</p>

<p>Also if I do attach a resume, I should just take out all the activities that would be redundant from the common app, right?</p>

<p>Thanks in advance for any help!</p>

<p>I am a bit upset about having to write the same common app essay for each college. I was planning on using a couple different essays, different for each college, but all following the common app essay prompt. Is there anyway to not use the same essay for every college? And I’m not writing about the supplement - I’m writing about the required essay with six options.</p>

<p>Bump! Anyone know?</p>

<p>"I want to create an alternate version of my application.</p>

<pre><code>Before you create alternate versions of your application, please read and understand the following important information:

**Once the original version of the application is submitted, it is electronically sealed. Although a student may submit to other colleges using this application version, it cannot be edited.

**If you have any questions, please ask the Support Team before submitting your supplement.

You can create an alternate version of your application by following the steps below.

Step1: You must submit the Common Application to at least one institution. When this is complete, you must log out of your account.

Step 2: Copy and paste the following link into your browser window (if you click, it may not work):

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Default.aspx?allowcopy=true

You will be presented with a login screen to the Common Application. You must then enter your existing Username and Password and click Login.

Step 3: You will be presented with a screen titled ‘Application Versions,’ where you will see information about the application that you’ve already submitted. You may then click on the ‘Replicate’ link to create an alternate version of your submitted application. When this is complete, a second version will be visible on this screen. A special drop down will appear in the upper right corner of the application to allow quick access to all your applications.

Step 4: Once you create the new version, you should navigate back to your original version, select the desired school and click the move button just below your list of schools. This will move that school to the new version so you can continue to edit your application."

<p>You would just create an alternate. This is what I did when I sent some apps before Christmas and then had to change the short answers for the apps sent after Christmas. I believe the only things you can edit is your short answers, extra information and Essay.</p>

<p>how do guidance counselor and teacher recommendations fit into this?</p>

<p>question: this is a “preview” so does that mean that the application format can possibly still change?</p>

<p>^ It can, but it likely won’t.</p>

<p>I’m glad there are 12 spaces for ECs. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fit all of my activities!</p>

<p>i’m worried that i won’t be able to fill it :S</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>I heard that it’s the best scores only because after our class, the SAT Subject tests won’t be required anymore for the common app, so to compensate our year for that choice, they’re letting us retake the tests as many times as we can.</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>They never were. I’m not sure what you mean.</p>

<p>I know that the Common App has a place to talk about a select EC but I was wondering if it is acceptable/common to use an EC, say a sport, as the topic for the choice essay</p>
