2010 AP United States History Discussion

haha i did not get one drop of sleep night before test…i just stayed up staring at the clock for 8 hours trying to go to sleep but some strange reason i couldn’t…so i read like 7 chapters in amsco until sunrise…for some reason felt wide awake, and took the test…maybe it was divine intervention idk lol and those 7 chapters helped me on both essays;)

I really don’t know why people are sharing specific answers. Did they not hear their proctor at the end of the test?

Anyways, can someone please comment on appass.com. I calculated that one could get 55/80 and 8,6,2 on the dbq and free responses respectively and still get a 5. Is this true?

^That may have been true in a certain year, but the curve fluctuates every year, so take it with a grain of salt. I think AP Pass uses formulas given from past released exams… With a 55/80 and an 8,6,2 on the essays, I think that would be borderline 4/5.

^That would probably get you about a 4.

The formula our teacher gave us was

Number of correct MC - (1/4)(Number of Wrong)

DBQ Score x 4.5
FRQ Score x 2.75
FRQ Score x 2.75

You add all of these scores together and the scale for a 5 is around 114-180.

A 55/80 and 8,6,2 would get you around a 106-107 I think.

didnt they also “use black for the 1st time in court”

MC: First 20 were super easy, then the rest were pretty hard with some really easy ones thrown in. I’d say 55/80, none left blank.

DBQ: When I left the test, I thought that I nailed it. We studied the subject in English last year, so I had loads of outside information. Turns out one of my examples was out of the time period by 40 years. Think “The Crucible.” Yeah. 5-7

FRQ #3: I wasn’t too specific here, but I think it was a decent essay. I just talked about its effects and didn’t go too specific into the laws and compromises. 5-8

FRQ #5: Honestly, I pretty much made this one up. For the first one, on sub*, all I knew about the subject was one picture I saw in a review book and its captions, and I wrote more than a page all based off of that one picture. And for imm*****, I had no clue and just talked about the end of the quotas. 3-6

In total, if I use my lowest estimates, and using the AP Pass calculator, I get a 4.

Also, to those asking about Documents: my teacher, who is an AP grader, said that the minimum number that each essay should use is about half. I used 6 out of 10.

@Vince011 - Don’t you also have to multiply your MC x 1.125? Usually the tests are out of 180 so 1.125 x 80 = 90, and then the other 90 comes from your free response.

AP Pass is ridiculously low.

Is that realy the real calculator?

If you used all of the documents but didn’t include too much outside info, what would your DBQ score probably be?

so wat did everyone basically think about each section on a range from 0-10 (10 being a joke, 0 being extremly difficult)

MC- 7
DBQ- 8
Essay 3- 9
Essay 5- 8

i bettr have gotten a 4 or higher!

On a scale of 1 to 10:
MC–6 (Some questions were super easy and others I was like WTH are they talking about!!!)
DBQ–5 (If I’d actually studied that time period it would have been easy since it was so straightforward)
Essay 3–9 (I just did a DBQ on that last week!)
Essay 4–6 (I knew my stuff, but after I wrapped up one paragraph and moved on to another I remembered something I should have put in the first body paragraph, so I threw in another paragraph randomly…so there’s no organization)

Hey guys, any guesses what would the essay score be for Q5 if half of my essay was correct and specific regarding suburbanization and the other half I screwed up on regarding immigration (I said that immigra. was restricted by quota laws, was I correct)?

for the dbq, my teacher says to use 1/2 + 2. there were ten documents on the dbq, so it’s a safe bet to have used at least 7

i used no substantial facts/suppprts for dbq. i was thinking about writing about the book one and the play one (er, if u guys kno what i am talking about) but then somehow taht didn’t quite transfer down to my hand!!! and then i walked out thinking…WHY didn’t i write those? WHY did i blabber about the same stuff over and over again/?? T.T

and mc were like…every time, i narrowed it down to 2 choices and had to guess. T.T i really wanted a 5 =[

APDude- you were partically correct until the 1960s

What do you guys think the curve will be on this exam?

im scared every1 thought it wasnt hard so the curve might b a bit tougher this year :/

What is it usually?

oh no. oh no. oh no.
NO NO NO

although last year i thought world was a joke & many other people thought so too, there were over 20 5s in the class … so who knows
