2010 AP United States History Discussion

whoaaa unlike basically everybody on this thread, i also studied the crash course but i thought the multiple choice was more challenging (but still pretty okay) than in previous years but i liked the dbq’s and frq’s…our average score is a 5 at our school for the 250-300 that take it each year…so im hoping for the best…

Wow, average score of 5? That’s amazing, at my school it’s around 4.4 and I thought that was pretty good. Good luck then!

What was Reagan’s foreign policy? Limiting Nuclear Arms? (D)? I Hope so !

so appass.com calculator says that one can miss get a 55/80 on the MC, and an 8,6,2 on the dbq and the remaining free response questions respectively and still get a 5. Is this accurate or what? Personally, I think I did better than 55 and I would guess a 8-9 and 7 on the first 2 essays, but I don’t think I did well on the last. Is a 5 grade really that leniant?

elbeen-- breaking rules i see :p

lol. anyway someone please answer my question about the importance of stating the examples in the thesis!

@ wahkimoocow, are these rules really enforced? Hahaa can I have my account terminated on CC? I am such a rebel :p

And I didn’t state anyyyy examples in my thesis. I alluded to them and then dove in in my body paragraphs and restated in my conclusion. Is that bad? :0

Holy cow. You guys have like 200-300 kids taking it at your schools? My school only has 100 students taking it with like average score of a 3… My school isn’t very small either…

okayy okayy. i am going to calm down about this thesis thing, lol.

and 100 students? WHOA! in my school…there were only 10 (and my school is big and urban lol)…i was the only junior >.<

@elbeen-- nahh not really. i did think people were being overly concerned about the whole threat…but i just dont want kids from next year to look over this thread and get ideas for the MC (since they are often reused) :p…yea its just not fair to me

use of psychological and sociological evidence

BTW ;D I think I did pretty well overall. I read half of the AMSCO and all of the Crash Course. I swear the Crash Course read the test’s mind, there was so much on there from it. I think I got anywhere from 65-75/80 for the MC. I somehow did really well on the DBQ despite my initial shock. I completely bombed Part B: 2 because I put so much effort into the DBQ and then was mentally exhausted. Then for Part C: 2 I regained my strength and did really well on that too. Minimum 4, pretty sure a 5. knocks on wood.

they aren’t CC’s rules, and if someone from collegeboard reads some of these posts, they might start canceling AP scores, we heard some horror stories in my Calc BC class about cheating related stuff where entire schools get their scores canceled

I was feeling pretty well, and then I got to the DBQ. I have absolutely nothing to say about that time period. So I was like rotfllcopterblahblahblah.

I did nail the FRQs though. Probably 8s or 9s, and the multiple choice wasn’t that bad. I guess I can afford a 3 on the DBQ.

@Billsrage55
“use of psychological and sociological evidence” —wasnt that an answer choice for one of the MCs??? that wasnt the right one right? o_O
that answer choice was not to the question about reagans policy

What’s the “Crash Course” Everyone keeps RAVING about? I used Princetonreview :(

Nah, that’s not right. My AP teacher (doesn’t grade now, but used to) goes to all the workshops, and advertently did a DBQ using NO documents, just a ton of outside info, and was given a 7. That’s about as high as you can go without using documents, but you definetly don’t need to use a lot. My teacher did suggest using about 6/9 just because we might not able to recall a bunch of facts in limited time with all the pressure on. Personally, I excluded 1 document and found ways to nicely implement the others. Hope we all got 5s :D

it was to brown v board and its the right answer i think cuz they did do that for sure

That’s awesome big dreamer. Gives me so much hope !:D

Haha yeah! I felt better after the test, was a relief and didn’t feel overly-fazed by it (thankfully). I wish I had better handwriting lol, but if I had really awesome penmanship, my essays would be 4-5 pages each time

if i said that immigration was limited by quota laws during the period for essay 5, was I correct?
… if its wrong what would my essay score be if say I had one paragraph of correct info. (about suburbs) and one para. of incorrect info. lol.

I didn’t think the essays were this harshly graded…How well must the essay be written/how much outside information must it contain to be a 7?
