Princeton Review just released its 2010 Best Value College list, as summarized in this CollegeNews - The Voice Of The College Student article.

as usual, the privates are not attainable to 90% of the applicant population; waste of paper (or internet page)

Wow New College is ranked that high!

As a Florida resident who visited New College, I honestly thought it was a dump. There was literally trash sprawling across the campus. Combine that with aging facilities and a poor town for a college (Sarasota).

The student demographic was extremely…eccentric… I guess if the counterculture vibe is your thing it would be a positive.

The only reason I believe it is even ranked high is because New College is a liberal arts college that is priced at a public college level.

One word: Overrated

Does the public list take into account in state or OOS tuition, or both? Because the OOS tuition for many of those schools is definitely not cheap!

It’s a shame to hear that New College is not being maintained. Years ago, when it was still a private college, it sounded like an up-and-coming gem of a school. I remember reading about how luxurious the dorms were as well as how many graduates were getting Rhodes and other high honors.
