2010 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

got invites from cornell. yay!

@Serric: I’m pretty sure I was one of the first few at Wisc and they haven’t done all the travel/stay arrangements yet, so there’s def still time to be invited.

Does anyone have more information about the Harvard Program in Neuroscience? Have they sent out all of the interview invitations yet, and what about invitations for international students? Do they send them later/separately?

Hey congrats to everyone on the incoming interviews!

got invites from columbia university mol.pharmacology program! yay!
i never really thought I’d get invites from the ivies and UCSF. i was so worried that my GRE scores were below the cut off (if they had any)…whew!

I also got an invite to Columbia Pharmacology via email! Yeeessss!!

With a truckload of regret, I just turned down my UCSF BMS interivew. Hopefully they’ll toss it out to one of you guys. That was one hard email to write :frowning: Good luck everyone!

Do y’all know when you are supposed to tell a university if you accept their offer? For instance (obviously in a perfect world) you get several offers but they are staggered…how do you handle that?

GCN2, sorry to hear that. Hope you get some NYC interviews soon, although I’m sure you will since you already have one from UCSF.

Cornell Weill is not done sending out invites yet, if anyone is wondering about that.

Thanks sfpassc, I did get the GSK invite, so hopefully that one will work out. Thanks for the update on Cornell!

Neurohopes,
Are you talking acceptance offers or interivew offers? For acceptances, I would notify them that you are considering all your options, and get back to them when you have heard from all the schools you are interested in. On the other hand, if GSK goes well, I will be cancelling my interviews and withdrawing all apps haha.

In case anyone is waiitng on Wake Forest, I did declined my interview this morning. So there’s another spot out there. Though I’m not sure on the demand at Wake.

i suppose i should have applied to more schools. i’m still 0/11. congrats @nutmeg for finally getting one!

11 schools is a lot biophdplease. Don’t worry about it. You’ll start hearing soon. My guess is that schools that had early deadlines have sent out initial invites. I think the rest will come in January

Regarding the Yale BBS graduate program: what percentage of interviewed applicants are accepted into the program? I’ve received various conflicting answers to this question. Hopefully someone who has interviewed for this program in the past, or knows someone who has, or is currently in the program, could answer this for me…

one of my good friends is a bio grad student at yale and he claims that all interviewees are accepted. last year when he interviewed, all individuals were told of their acceptance upon visit prior to interviewing. i heard that this is true at rockefeller as well.

the recruitment weekend at yale consists of an interview as well right?

Not to freak people out, but some UPenn neuro invitations went out today. Last year, there were at least four waves of interviews, so, if you haven’t heard anything, it doesn’t mean squat.

xxxxxxx, really? I saw that you wrote this on the 2008 version of this thread last year, and I subsequently freaked out with joy, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Can anyone back xxxxxxx up on this? This seems too good to be true…And what do you mean “told of their acceptance upon visit prior to interviewing”? You mean they tell you this when they invite you for an interview?

Has anyone heard from UPENN BMS, Tufts Sackler or Pitt IBGP yet?

hamster, yes it does.

@biophd
Thanks! I was really surprised to get it because I probably have a snowballs chance in you know where getting anything at many of the schools I applied to, haha. I am sure you will be hearing from schools in the coming weeks
