^
No news either way. :(

Same for me

Didn’t know you were waiting on the same one!

Happy thoughts for you two waiting, GA’s daughter and big red!!!

Kat
ps Columbia?

My guess is Y

It was C. Y should be out the 13th.

Updates???

Kat
H was around the 15th and Cornell was around this time too last year.

Correction:

talked to son, H decisions came out earlier than the 15th, more like beginning of the month…I knew it was sometime in March…I couldn’t remember…

Kat

Been out of town, good luck to everyone waiting for decisions!!!

Just booked a flight for a Second Look for my son…it’s almost decision time! And graduation, for that matter!! Hope everyone is doing well. So q-u-i-e-t here :)

D received her first FA package today.

I wish I hadn’t given up drinking for Lent.

That good, huh?

Big difference from undergrad GAmom!! All topsy turvey for son…all those loans! Since his undergrad was a no loan school it was a shock even though we KNEW from here that it was gonna be that.

He just lined them all up on a spread sheet and it became really obvious when he was done which one monetarily stood out. Not so easy to let other ones go though…

Kat

For most (but not all) applicants, that one is likely the state med school. No wonder that, last time I heard it, over 75 percents of the students who got into med school attended the public med school in their state.

Since there is more “social engineering” going on at the undergraduate level, in some sense, if you want the “name”, it may be cheaper to get that name at the UG level than at the med school. Practically speaking though, your UG name matters very little when you are into the medicine career – After all, you are not into either the i-banking/consulting or an academic-oriented career, right?!

Of course, the cheapest way is to “sell yourself out” to some slightly lower tiered school for four years as an UG (to help the college to invest in its future) and even your living expenses will be fully paid (except for the tax part.)

My son won’t be getting any financial feedback if we don’t get the darned forms submitted!! Ugh. Freaking out and my husband promises TODAY will be the day. We had some issues on our taxes to resolve first, so hopefully we can hit “send” tonight.

On another note, I asked our son if he wanted a nice graduation party or maybe forgo it and take a post-graduation trip. He’s opting for the trip, which I was thinking would be an off-season Caribbean week or something…Not even close! He wants to travel to Iceland with a few friends and tour Europe. We’re still laughing…[sort of] ;)

^ How nice it is for you to give your son a post-graduation trip!

DS did not have anything like that when he graduated. Between the graduation and his first day of job, he only had that big, bad MCAT test (he took a gap year) and some idle time at home for less than a week (including one day to get up very early to catch the flight.) I guess our family have had a “boring” life. Just think of this: the last time he had a long (4-day) summer vacation trip was when he was a 7th grader!

Last year, when we completed our school-specific financial aid application within 2 days! (We had completed our tax return and FAFSA much earlier. After these two had been completed, other FA applications, including the online one, would be not that difficult – assuming that you know how much you have in your retirement accounts relatively well, how much your house is worth, etc.)

The trip is meant to be a big congratulations thing, and while we cannot really afford to do it, my son hasn’t been able to take any trips either, except a service trip the the Global Medical Brigades to Honduras 2 years ago which wasn’t a vacation, though a great experience. He had applied last year for several internships in Europe but was not chosen, so I think he still has the ‘bug’ to go :)

Super excited for the upcoming months. And of course, the final decisions!! Isn’t March 15th when they usually all are out? He still has not heard from two schools. We’re assuming that it means a “no” or a wait list, but not sure.

no. there is no set date for decisions. schools you have interviewed at can string you along until june or july without even putting you on the waitlist. schools at which you weren’t offered an interview you should expect a rejection from some time in the future if they haven’t sent you an invite by now.

Thanks, Shraf. Just waiting on some strings, I guess ;)

While there are no dates set in stone…some state schools are going to have FA packages ready for review in May if students have completed FAFSA documents and individualized application procedures (copies of tax returns, etc) by the set deadline each school requires to have that data submitted.
Although some state schools will not have a set Tuition, R, (if on-campus housing is offered) books, instruments, computers, and other fees on a Cost Sheet at the ready— until they can confirm who will be a part of the Class of 2016. Congrats to all who have been accepted-and best of luck to everyone who is still waiting!
