2011 January SAT: Math

^That was a separate problem.

So the one with the sum was 50/51?!?

Because that was my wild guess on the last 30 seconds.
& apparently I missed the hexagon by 3…I put 64…

why was it cola,tea,coffee?

^^Yes.

^It asked for caffeine per ounce. If you divided caffeine/ounce, coffee had 10, tea had ~7, and cola had a really small amount.

Cola had less than 3

Yeah and it was least to greatest

wait WHAT? On the caffeine one I thought it asked for it organized from greatest caffeine content to least…
… that’s wrong, isn’t it?

I remember least to greatest.

The correct answer went from the bottom of the given list to the top of it: cola, tea, then coffee. (Logically, that makes sense.)

Anyone remember one of the last questions with the sqrt 3 or 5 over two? I didn’t get that at all and I guess (sqrt. 3 - 1)/2

i got sqrt 5 over 2
or sqrt 2 over 5
i forgott

^That was the only question that I had no clue about. How are you supposed to solve it? Perhaps I read it wrong.

…well i’m f***** then. I saw that question and that it was so funny because I already know a lot about caffeine… so i didn’t read it carefully, just did the math quickly to confirm what i already knew.
So careless!
Should’ve downed a 5 hr energy beforehand for mental alertness. To help with caffeine math questions…lol

To do the rad5-1/2 one, here are the steps:
The side of the big square is 1. Thus, the length of the smaller leg of the triangle is 1/2(since E was the midpoint). The other leg is 1, so the diagonal is rad5/2. The diagonal is the same length as the side of the small square plus 1/2. Thus, the side of the small square is (rad5-1)/2

^ I did the same. I calculated total caffeine instead of the amnt in each and got coffee, tea, cola. No idea what I was thinking.

oh crap
i dont think i subtracted
WHYWHYWHY

I could have sworn it was greatest to least

I got (sqrt(5)-2)/2

****kk
for cake question how is it 1080?

can someone explain TT
and i had
2.25 or something for the second last question…
TTTTTTTT

^
The question asked for the side of the small square

We’re in the same boat, Natalie. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m so prone to random mistakes/oversights like that on the math section. CR is where it’s at.
