2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Interviews tend to be structured in the following way:

 1. You talk about your research.
 2. The professor talks about his/her research.
 3. If the professor doesn’t take up the rest of your time talking about his/her research, you ask a) questions about the program and/or b) what are hopefully insightful questions about his/her research.

UPenn CAMB interview email just received.

@cellculture: Congrats man!

WUStL DBBS Immuno interview by email received! (Apparently they tried to call, but I didn’t put a phone number on there -_-)

@cellculture, Which CAMB track did you apply to?

Congrats everyone!

Did anyone else apply to Gerstner Sloan-Kettering? I know interview invites were sent out around this time last year so I’m getting a little nervous…

@IMSageek: I am also very curious as to GSK. I’m here sitting on the edge of my seat and whenever i hear the phone ring or the sound of an email i dash to check it out. Usually just some spam from Apple or Geico.

OMG the Apple spam! I do exactly the same thing, lol. Spam e-mails have become a lot more annoying since I submitted my apps.

@ImmunoNIH Ahhhh, edge of the seat is right! I looked at GradCafes database and of the ones listed for last year, no one was accepted. >.< I keep checking the website and the only difference this week is that the application download is back to fill-out format.

@ShidoDesu I applied to the Developmental Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology track.

@Imm2010 There were a couple of people from this board accepted last year, so don’t lose hope yet.

I noticed the application download had changed too. Weird.

Does anyone know if they are done giving out interviews for Yale’s MCGD track?

@IMSAgeek and Imm2010: I remember reading about this last year from GCN2’s post. They started changing stuff on their application website and a few days later invites seemed to have been sent out. Maybe this is that prelude this year around? Will it come in time for the holidays? WHO KNOWS?!?!

Lol… WHY do you have to do that?! Cut the suspense with a knife why don’t ya? :P

Have they even started offering interviews for Yale’s MCGD track?? I tried emailing the point of contact for the program asking about this since I have another interview date piggybacking the date that Yale has listed, so I wanted to know for planning purposes and trying not to wait too long to make arrangements with the school I’ve already been invited to, but I got no response :(

and apparently harvard neuro has already sent out their interview invites? and there might only be one batch this year?

@kurplunk18, can you please let me know what they tell you after they get back to you? I think I read somewhere that someone got an interview. I could be wrong though. Judging from last year’s thread, it looks like MCGD interviews were given out 12/18. It could be different this year though.

I am going to de-lurk on this forum as well. I am also waiting to hear anything from GSK, and pretty much all the schools I applied to. One invite last week for UNC BBSP though.

Also, has anyone heard anything from Scripps? It seems that last year, they sent out invites around this time.

@cellculture, I’ll definitely let you know, but for whatever sad reason, I highly doubt that she’s going to reply… It was such a nice email too! :frowning: I’m hoping they’ll start making offers any day though, and not keep us waiting until January. I feel like many more people on this forum would have posted if they started, it’s a pretty popular track I would guess…

I applied to Scripps CA for Immuno and I haven’t heard anything yet.

I just missed a phone call from Georgetown about an interview! This comes less than 24 hours after I got an email from NYU sackler about an interview! Like some of you, I’m also waiting for GSK and Weill Cornell. I don’t know when they will come or if they will come at the same time as last year, but I feel like its still really early to be hearing back from places. I don’t think we should worry yet about GSK. Maybe if it gets to like mid january and we haven’t heard, then maybe we should be concerned about not getting an interview.
