2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

Ditto on UC Irvine CMB email, January 27-30

Just got an interview at GSK! FYI: I applied only days before the deadline

Stats:
3.5 GPA (3.63 science) at top school
780 Q (84), 690V (89), 5W
lots of research experience but no pubs yet (one in preparation, but that doesnt help me with this :P)

Ditto on GSK! Yes!!! Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone. Figured I’d also send my two cents in that GSK just sent me an email as well. Good luck everyone! :-)

I think its safe to say the 21st of December is a melee of early interview invitations! Congrats everyone! :)

Congrats guys. Looks like I am GSK invite-less.

Yale interview invite!! I’m so stoked!!

I hate to say it but it looks like GSK only interviewed 50 applicants last year and their notification week was this week last time too.

Can anyone prove me wrong? Please? :P

@ImmunoNIH, I’m also GSK invite-less. It is a really small and really new program, so I would assume they don’t interview very many people…oh well, i still have my fingers crossed for Weill Cornell (which is probably a better program anyways).

congrats on yale cellculture!! I’m still waiting, trying my best to keep distracted :frowning: Congrats to everyone else as well on the flurry of invites!!!

@belleoftheball: Which program within Columbia’s biomed did you apply to?

@belleoftheball: I have my fingers crossed for that too. I liked a lot of the faculty at GSK and considering Weill collaborates quite a bit with GSK it may not be difficult to still weasel my way there. I haven’t seen anything from Weill yet.

@jennie56, its the Integrated in Cellular, Molecular and Biomedical Studies program

@ImmunoNIH, same boat as you, Weill Cornell does interview emails in January too! :)

@ImmunoNIH: I visited both GSK and Weill Cornell to find out more about their programs. The cornell program in joint with Memorial Sloan-Kettering, but the GSK program is not joint with any other school. Therefore, you can work with any faculty at Weill or GSK in the Cornell program, its not a problem. They say that they think of the faculty at both schools as one. A grad student even told me that you can work with some Rockefeller faculty although that is a bit more difficult and I think requires that faculty member to fund you. At GSK you can only work with GSK faculty, so you have a larger pool to work with at Cornell.

Hi,

I’m new to the forum. Just wanted to tell that I got admission to Berkeley’s Molecular and Biochemical Nutrition Program. Obviously, they do not require interviews for international students :)

not getting an invite from GSK is super depressing, it was one of my top choices

I got an invite to Weill Cornell yesterday morning. Nothing else, yet.

hey…wheres which program in weil cornell

wheres, what program are you applying to at Weill?
