2011 Official Biosciences Interviews and Results

@belleoftheball. Would you mind posting your stats? Curious for NYU. I’m missing one rec letter which really makes me depressed when I know invites are already being handed out.

just got an interview at columbia Pathology and Molecular Medicine Graduate Program (part of the biomed group at the medical school)!

Hi guys, I’m trying to avoid any possible overlap if/when I get future interviews. Yesterday, I got a call from UW MCB. If it helps anyone, the choices they gave me for interviewing were Jan 26-29 or Feb 9-12. Has anyone received interview offers from the following molecular and cellular bio programs? If so, what are the available dates? Thanks!

Columbia (CMB)
CU Boulder (MCDB)
MIT (Biology)
NYU Sackler (CMB)
Rockefeller (MCD)
UC Berkeley (MCB)
UCSF (TETRAD)

Interview invite for Baylor College of Medicine (CMB Program) via phone. The official deadline isn’t until January 1st, but they made clear on their website that they begin reviewing applications in late December.

For those who got an invite from NYU Sackler, what are the dates?

Hey Nerdon,

The Berkeley MCB dates are 2/6-2/8 and 2/27-3/1 (I’m a current student)

Has anyone heard from Columbia Neurobiology and Behavior? Thanks!

Got a call from WashU dbbs, computational and molecular biophysics.

@atomicpropel nope I’m waiting to hear from them too

WUSTL invite last night, by phone, for the Mol. Micro & Microbial Pathogenesis program.

@IzzieE: there were two NYU Sackler dates 1/13-1/14 and 1/20-1/21. I have another interview the first week so going going to the later one.

My stats:
GPA: 3.65 from top US research university
major GPA: 3.63
GRE: V-610 (88%) Q-740 (80%) AW-5.0 (84%)
Biology Subject: 760 (79%)
1.5 years research experience at undergrad university
1 quarter research experience at NIH
current Postbac at NIH (in my 2nd year)

I met one of the faculty members at a grad school fair at NIH this past summer. His research was similar to mine and he seemed to take a liking to me. I visited the school later in the summer and met with him and a number of other faculty members that know my current boss. Also met with the dean. I dunno how much that influenced their decision to give me an interview…Its one of my top choices so I’m really excited.

I did the same thing at GSK and didn’t get an interview…so you do the math.

UW Immunology invite – 2 interview dates to choose from (Feb 17 or Feb 24).
770Q 770V 6 AW
UG GPA 3.8

Does any body receive interview invitation from the MCB program at WUSTL?

Anyword from Weill Cornell IMP or Allied?

Someone asked what track for Penn’s CAMB I’m interviewing for–I don’t think the application asked for a specific track. Instructions indicated students decided upon that in the first year. CAMB is not interviewing by tracks (unlike Yale BBS) to my knowledge. If for some freaky reason I listed a track and can’t remember–it would have been genetics and gene regulation.

Also, princeton mol bio interview invite today! I’ve been waiting for it! Basically the best christmas gift ever!

Also, anyone else interviewing at UPenn jan 13-15? I feel like it’s super early. I’m taking this to be a good thing though haha.

I have an acceptance to Rockefeller (it came in the mail a week a go). I also have an interview offer at my safety, UMass Med School.

congrats @sirtuin! Quick question - domestic or international applicant? Either way, congratulations!

HB1986 are you domestic or international?

For everybody who’s received an interview to UMich PiBS (particularly those of the neuroscience applicants), I’m a first year PiBS neuro student. Feel free to message me with any questions you might have!
