@churchmusicmom: Thank you very much for your response! Yes, that was one of my concerns. Hopefully everything will work out. :)

Has anybody heard from MIT Brain and Cognitive, Yale BBS Neuro, or UCSD Neuro?

Thanks

Sackler also sent out interview dates for Jan 13-14 or Jan20-21.
going to the latter.

@azzure123: Do you know if they’re done sending out invites?

Hi everybody!

Im new at this forum and Im interested in immunology program. I have applied to:
NYU SI.GBS
Rockefeller U. DR.GP
Sloan-Kettering Institute GSK.GSBS
Mount Sinai School of Medicine GSBS
CWRU - BSTP
U. of Toronto - DI
U. of Colorado, Denver IGP
U. of Pittsburgh IBSGP
U. of Alabama at Birmingham GBSP
U. of Vermont CMBP
U. of Connecticut IGP

My Stats:
My GRE scores are: V. 470 / Q. 770 / AW. 3.5 (As you can see, English is not my mother tongue
)
TOEFL: 110
Undergrad GPA: 7.8/10
M.S. GPA: 3.83/4
3 excellent recommendation letters
I also have 4 years of lab experience, organized a undergraduate course and gave 44 h of classes at that course, 1 paper to be submitted (second author) and 1 manuscript in preparation (1st author), a text book chapter, 5 poster presentations (1st author) at national and international conferences (an honors mention at one of them), have received 4 fellowships and 1 travel grant, got 10 out of 10 at my undergrad honors thesis and got the highest score at the Master application (~50 applicants)

I dont have idea about what universities would accept me, asI have a low GRE verbal score, a not-that-good undergraduate GPA and low grades at specific disciplines such as Cellular Biology, Basics Immunology, Genetics To ameliorate my situation, at the end of my undergrad studies and at my M.S studies I had better grades at more specific disciplines

If you have any idea of my chances please let me know!

Good luck everybody and happy New Year!

Wow!

Now I finished looking all the post there… I’m becoming really worried I havent received any reply yet. Anyway Im an International student. Never studied at the US. :/

Well, congratulations to those who got interview invitations!! :)

thought i would join this thread.

my stats:
-biology & chemistry double major at top 10 biology research institute
-cum. GPA: 3.3
-major GPAs: bio 3.3 (had <3.0 for intro series, but >3.7 for upper level, 4.0 past 2 quarters); chem 3.5
-GRE: 610(Q), 490(V), 5(AW). completely bombed it b/c i didn’t study for my GRE’s at all… took the sample test the same day as my actual test…■■■.
-research experience: 6 months in chem lab (organic catalysis) doing grunt work, independent project in REU summer program (systems neuro), 1 qtr in cell & molec lab (independent study student), 1 qtr in molec neuro lab (current lab for my senior thesis)

-publications: first author publication in medium impact journal (for my summer project); 1 poster presentation
-LoR’s submitted by: research mentors from most recent projects (all respected faculty members)
-awards: REU scholarship, travel award, departmental scholarship for research

Applied schools & programs, date applied:
- UWashington- Neurobiology & Behavior- Dec. 1
- UCSF- Neuroscience - Dec. 15
- UC Davis- Neuroscience - Dec. 15
- USC- Biol Sci/Neurobiology - Dec. 20
- Vanderbilt- Departmental Neuro (systems)- Dec. 15
- Vanderbilt - IGP (molec neuro) - Dec. 22
- Carnegie Mellon- Biol Sci - Dec. 27
- UIUC- Neuroscience - Dec. 27

As you can see, I have a problem with procrastinating. I submitted most apps on the deadline date. I received an unofficial rejection from UWashington. Direct email from faculty member at Vandy (but mentioned he cannot oversee my app, but is interested in working with me if i do get an interview…). Have had problems with UC Davis receiving my app materials (my app wasn’t even uploaded onto their server until the 22nd… stupid embark system). have not received any official invitations to interview…

my chance for admissions is pretty much in the air right now. i have low UGrad GPA due to a handful of classes, but i have amazing grades in physics and chemistry classes. low GRE scores because I registered for it last minute, got in a car accident so had to reschedule, and then really take it last, last minute (dec. 1). i’ve had ADHD since I was 10, so i’m used to having school be a hit or miss for me. i do not receive special accommodations because I believe i’m fully capable of doing well in courses i find interesting. i definitely did not talk about my ADHD in my SoP, except for my UC Davis app (only because they ask for the diversity statement).

we’ll see how it goes this cycle!

CATions, what was the “unofficial” rejection from UWash? I haven’t heard anything from them.

anyone know how many people harvard chem bio invites for interviews / how many people are eventually accepted?

yeah i got a rejection from UW too- it was just an email with the standard rejection jargon. at least they didnt keep us hoping forever haha

Has anyone heard from Stanford Biosciences or Harvard BBS yet?

I called Stanford today and they said that interview invitations should go out the end of next week. 1st round rejections will be end of January. They said that some people get waitlisted, so you can hear as late as March even though. UCLA also said you can hear through March and the rep was surprised/unaware that any interview invitations had gone out at all yet, although I knew a few people on this forum said they got invites. I’m not sure if they’re just saying this to stop people from worrying, but it’s encouraging.

In other news, a USC grad student told me they were notified of interview dates from mid-Jan to early February. Again, USC rep said that not all interviews had gone out.

I’m channeling patience, hoping for luck, and praying for interviews.

Thanks so much for the info.

And now back to the waiting game

biology123, which program at stanford did you contact? I remember from previous years that different home programs contact applicants at different times.

Hi guys, I’m really trying not to freak out, but has anyone heard from Berkeley (Molecular and Cell Biology) or UCSF (TETRAD)??? Thanks and congratulations on your interviews!

i just called the general “biosciences phd admissions program” number. i don’t know any specifics based on home program.

reconsidering usc, i’m not sure how much hope i have if the interviews are coming up so quick

:(

Does anyone who applied to Yale BBS know if the interview invitations have gone out for the computational biology and bioinformatics program? I have heard people saying they have gotten invites for other BBS programs and it’s making me nervous!

Hey! So I got an interview with the MCGD track of BBS at Yale right before Christmas, but I know that those who applied to Immunology heard over a week before I did. It seems like the different tracks stagger when they send out their invites! Probably not time to worry yet!

Good luck!

New here, and PANICKING!

No interview invites yet, just one emailed rejection from OHSU.
Stats:
3.13 GPA (ugh), not quite 3 years lab experience, no papers
GREs V:780(99), Q:730(77), A:5.0(85) Biochem, Cell and Molecular Subject test: 590(73), but 83%ile on the Biochem section.
4 rec letters, which should be all strong, especially the one my latest PI wrote.

I applied to these places:
U Washington Pharmacology
UCSF Neuroscience
UC Davis Neuroscience
Stanford Biosciences(Neuroscience)
UC Irvine Pharmacology
UC Irvine Pharmaceutical Sciences Gateway Program
UCLA Medical and Molecular Pharmacology
U Arizona Pharmacology
U Utah Neuroscience
U Colorado at Denver Pharmacology
OHSU Neuroscience (emailed rejection already)

I’m about to explode because I’m so worried that I won’t get in anywhere. And I really like Irvine, but their interview weekend is late January, so I should have gotten and invite by now if they wanted me? I think?

What do you think, guys? Am I screwed?

i haven’t gotten any interviews yet either… no rejections, however.
