I just called the adcom and they said they actually sent my invitation to the wrong email by accident… PHEW!

@compbio2011

i saw the QCB thing too. i’m a little worried. i called and asked about this…the secretary and department chair said the admissions process is ongoing. whatever that means. looking at thegradcafe for QCB last year, it seems like the people chosen for interviews were all notified by phone on the same day. i’m not sure what to make of all this right now. gotta wait and hope for the best…

@systems

Thanks for the update. What comp bio/bioinformatics/systems programs have you herd from?

So far I have invitations from uMich bioinformatics, but other than QCB I do not see that any of the other departments that I applied to have sent out any invitations.

i haven’t heard from any as of yet. but i only applied to 4 schools. pm me to talk more.

UPenn CAMB committee met yesterday…

@biowwlaw: did unc call or email?

Hey guys which UPenn are you referring to? The medical center program?

@bioblogger

UPenn School of Medicine Biomedical Graduate Studies - Cell and Molecular Biology (CAMB)

does anyone know if adcoms actually contact people you list on your application? i had an additional information section saying to contact person x and y for further support of my application. will they be contacted?

I was one of the GradCafe Princeton QCB postings. They called on Monday and the interview is on 2.11, but I’m afraid I have no idea whether they’ve finished inviting people or not.

yay! UC Irvine CMB interview, feb 3-6! feels good
@belleoftheball see you there!

@compbio2011
i just asked the “UPenn School of Medicine Biomedical Graduate Studies” Office

@systems
in all likelihood, people are reading through applications quickly so unless someone really intrigued me, i as a professor probably wouldn’t.

on the flip side, i work at a school i applied to, but did not list my current PI as a recommender b/c i just started working for them. they contacted them independently though and asked for a letter. so they may or may not depending on who you listed.

anyone know if uchicago biomedical sciences cluster is done sending out invites?

thanks!

I got my first interview invitation today!! Finally! U. of Colorado, Denver! :)

@immuno2011
I’m also applying to UConn, do you know if they invited someone already?

Best of luck!

@superpiepie

I’m in the developmental biology program, but UPGG and development are pretty close

Got a rejection email from OHSU today, and offered an interview at Tufts for their ISP program (desired specialization is Neuro) on 12/21 via phone

I just got an interview offer to UCLA ACCESS!

duke pharm sent out invites today!

Most of the smaller Harvard DMS programs (Viro, Immuno, etc.) have sent out invites or will do so by this week. The interviews will be in two weeks. I haven’t heard of exceptions, but there could be.

Harvard BBS adcom meetings will be occurring over the next few days, so invites will not be sent out until end of next week at the earliest. The recruitment weekends will be Feb 10-13 and Feb 24-27.

@xiv21 (or others)

Do you by any chance know when the Harvard Systems Bio or Biophysics interviews are?

U of Wisconsin - Madison Genetics just sent out interview invitations. The dates are the first three weekends in February.

I don’t think Harvard Biophysics does interviews though it has a recruitment weekend: This year’s Biophysics Program Recruitment Weekend is expected to be held from February 24th through the 27th, 2011 (these dates include travel to and from Boston). (from its Web site)

As for Systems Bio, looking at gradcafe results from last years, interviews will most probably take place from February 4th through February 7th.

Again, if the results from the last year or the year before are any indication, Sys Bio is very likely to send out invites today or tomorrow. Harvard Biophysics sends its acceptances at the end of January, though.
