I spoke to UCSD BMS admissions Monday morning and I was told they still haven’t gone through all the applications, but that doesn’t make me feel any less anxious. Has anyone gotten formal rejections from UCSD BMS (other than the pre-app)?

You know what’s funny? My application is still not “complete” on their website and when I looked yesterday they seemed to have been updating my application materials. At one point everything but one paper letter was in, but now they rescinded their confirmation of GRE scores! :P

I’ve got a similar story! I checked their website last week and saw that they didn’t have my GRE scores, which is insane since I sent them early November. That was the whole reason I called admissions. The woman I spoke with was very nice and said that there are “stacks” of applications that havent been updated into the system or have been reviewed yet. It sounds like they’re running behind, but who knows. I didnt get my application in until the last day, so maybe this is my punishment!

You know, I had to almost harass a couple of programs (notably Johns Hopkins) because they kept saying they didn’t have some of my materials. I had to resend GRE scores a couple of times. I think that if you send them “too early” (and I did send them very early–October), they lose things.

I was checking the GradCafe results; are people hearing from UVM’s CMB program already? Because their deadline hasn’t even passed yet. Someone posted saying they’d gotten an interview for CMB and now my mom is panicking that I won’t get an interview.

That’s weird about UCSD BMS. I called them late November to ask about GRE scores and transcripts and the woman was very nice and took about 30 seconds to look it up and tell me they had everything. Maybe there was a huge backlog after the deadline and they don’t answer questions like that anymore?

However, I don’t see any reason to doubt them saying that they’re not done reviewing apps. The interviews aren’t until Feb 17th and there may be more after that. If you look at gradcafe results from the last couple years you’ll see that the interview invites are all over the place–from the beginning of December to the end of January.

in other news, I just spoke to reps from Cornell (Allied Program) and Gerstner, and both admission committees are still reviewing applications. hope!

I talked to someone at the UCSF TETRAD admissions office yesterday, and they said interview invites would go out Thursday (1/13) or Friday (1/14) of this week. Fingers crossed!

Just got an interview invite at the University of Iowa (Biology department). Their deadline isn’t until the 15th, though. Not sure if I’ll be interviewing, though. Out of 10 schools, 6 of them would require overnight interview visits, which is too many (I have a pet parakeet and so every time I have to leave on a trip, I have to arrange for someone else to take care of him). Iowa is one of the two schools I’m willing to not visit if I get more than 4 out of 6.

If anyone is curious about UW-Seattle Genome Sciences, the word is that interview invites are sent out on a rolling basis. The first batch has already been sent with the rest happening soon - probably this week. Last year a little more than 50% were accepted after interviews.

Good luck to anyone who applied, it’s a great program with one lab that is way cooler than the rest of them. :D

UC Davis Biochem, Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Bio invite via phone!

This is their first round of invites so head’s up. March 3-5 were the dates I think, but there are some alternate ones too. It seems to be a relaxed weekend. The professor was like, this is more to inform you and see if it’s a good fit. Not like a medical school interview. I liked his style :)

About Harvard BBS, I was told (as of last Friday) that they wouldn’t be making decisions for “several weeks,” so I don’t think today’s snowpocalypse is going to really make much of a difference in terms of hearing back from them.

(I work at an HMS institution, so I don’t have magical powers that convinced admissions to tell me when they’re making decisions. If I did, I would have used those powers on the programs I applied to!)

has anyone gotten the email from UCLA ACCESS today saying that their is a problem with their server and they haven’t been able to update statuses/contact people through admissions??
I can’t figure out if they’d be contacting because of a rejection or an interview!!
