Ahh! I’m nervous for Stanford Cancer Bio. I am pretty much as far away as you could get location-wise while still being in the US, so I have a little hope…

@ curlzgrl9331

congrats!!

Have you just received a letter, but no call, email etc?

Do you know when it was sent?

phone call from Harvard BBS with (very) good news!

@aestheticreality
just got an email from UW Seattle Biochem tooo!! See you there !

@curlzgrl9331

Grats on your envelope! That’s so awesome!

@semicolons

That’s so awesome. Good luck!

So cool! I was so worried since all of the other UW programs seem to have sent their letters out. I left a voicemail this morning and about 15 minutes later I received the email! :P

@semicolons - congrats! more nail-biting over here :)

i am going insane; i’ve only heard back from two schools, one interview invite and one rejection. out of 16!!! most grad schools are cordial enough to send rejection letters, correct?

I’ve mentioned this before, but a LOT of programs are just getting started in terms of admissions meetings. My PI has reassured me that having a couple interviews right now (for biology/biomedical science programs) isn’t an unusually low number. So don’t worry! A LOT of places haven’t even gotten around to sending out invites yet!

@semicolons: Congratulations! Was the good news a straight acceptance?

Arg… I don’t have reception in my lab building and I’m stuck here for hours!

I also got a Harvard BBS acceptance call today!!!

ensue panic mode for Harvard BBS! Argh…!

just got into Harvard BBS too, just got a call

still in shock!

Just got an interview invite (phone call) from WashU MGG! Dates are the first weekend of February (already booked for me) or first weekend of March. :D

Does anyone know if Harvard BBS is done notifying people about acceptance? I didn’t get a call this afternoon. They were my first choice too.

Don’t give up hope yet, they probably have quite a few people to call.

I really, really, really hope you’re right and I’ll get one within the next few days. If not though, I’ll just go to one of my California schools while you Harvard people freeze in Boston ; )

Hi everybody!
I’m new here and just joined because I have officially entered OMG mode waiting for interview calls.

Here are my stats:
-Major: Biological Sciences; Minor: Classics
-Cummulative GPA: 3.9
-General GRE scores: 710Q, 590V, 99% writing
-Subject test: 83%, 93% Molecular/Cell Bio Section (aka what I’m applying for)
-almost 3 years of research experience on my own project. No paper as of yet due to difficulty cloning unknown genes
-3 strong letters: 2 very well known in their specific fields.
-I run track and do ballet (though I doubt anyone really cares about that haha)

10 Applications:
-Stanford Biosciences, UCSF Tetrad, UCSD BMS, Harvard BBS, Caltech, WashU MGG/MCB, UW Genome Sciences, Berkeley MCB, UCI CMB, UCSB

3 Interviews so far:
-UCSD BMS
-UW Genome Sciences
-UCI CMB

I’m really starting to freak out about UCSF and Stanford. They are by far my top 2 and I’m gonna be crushed if I don’t get into either I saw that they’ve started calling people…I really hope they have more people to call…

@uscbiofreak

Nice stats, don’t worry, plenty of time left! Mind if I ask when you heard from UCSD BMS?

@uscbiofreak

I too am growing anxious about Stanford (Genetics) and UCSF Tetrad. I got a Berkeley MCB invite so I feel my chances are good but I dunno. An earlier post said Tetrad was making calls today and yesterday, though I haven’t seen anybody post that they’ve been called today.

Interested in David Sinclair’s lab at Harvard? There are plenty of excellent alternatives at UCs plus its sunny and 60 degrees here in the bay area…
