@sirtuin - hmmm. I’m guessing you’re a David Sinclair fan?
Well, if one of your CA schools is UCSF or Berkeley, you could do grad work at the Buck… ::drool::

@IMM2010:
I heard from UCSD BMS on December 15. But don’t freak out because I think I only got called that early because my PI used to work there and the person who called me knew her. Hoping that’s not the only reason I got called though :P

@numbernine:
For stanford I applied for genetics and cancer bio, so maybe genetics hasn’t called people yet?! …do you know if anyone has heard from Genetics?
For UCSF I noticed the same thing…they couldn’t have called everyone in one day could they?! :/

@numbernine and @sdlife

I’m actually only very marginally interested in sirtuins and even less interested in aging research. I do work with a sirtuin, but it’s only part of a managerie of nearly 20 other proteins I’m studying. I don’t particularly want to keep working with it either. I just think “sirtuin” is a cool name, which sounds much cooler than most of the other things I work with (blah blah blah factor 2 and mystery protein 4, etc). So I have no real opinion on the Sinclair lab.

@ Harvard BBS people:

Looking back on last year’s threads, there was a ton of talk about BBS accepting in “waves”, but only looked like one wave materialized. Does Harvard actually send out “waves” or maybe a “gradient”, or do they really just accept everyone in a day?

@sdlifesci

I’m at the Buck. There are no PhD students here although the new CEO (my boss) his hoping to make that a possibility through some sort of UCSF satellite deal. The Buck is growing and will have a CIRM wing in 2012.

Well, let’s end this afternoon-long freakout. It turns out I did get in to Harvard BBS after all!

@sirtuin: congrats! when did you hear? They are still calling people after work hours?

congrats!!!

I know this isn’t relevant for you personally anymore, but at least when I applied, applicants were contacted by a professor in an area they indicated interest in, so some people ended up being notified before others.

8 PM on a Friday isn’t after work hours for a PI. :)

@uscbiofreak

I don’t think Tetrad is done sending invites- an alum in my lab said they usually make invites over a couple weeks plus they just sent out the first invites yesterday. I saw on Gradcafe that somebody received a Stanford Genetics invite by email on Jan 7th, but I haven’t heard of any other invites so I’m still hopeful on that front.

@numbernine - I emailed them about a few months ago. They told me UCSF or Berkeley students (as well as visiting students from other universities) could do their grad work there.

@curlzgrl9331
Congrats!
Did you get an email invite too? I’m wondering if we should we expect some not to call like Stanford didn’t call all…
What are your stats, if you don’t mind me asking? Are you at UCSF?

has anyone here heard from UCSF DCSB?

I’ve got an interview invitation from CB program of Harvard, Friday 8:00 PM. I am a little nervous! I do not know what they want to ask me. As I am international, this interview would be by phone.

Congrats! wish u best there!

congrats to all of you who heard from UCSF TETRAD and Harvard BBS!!

were you notified by phone, or by email? I haven’t heard anything yet, but since I am an international applicant, I would expect invites by email only.

hi ash…im hoping on the harvard bbs miracle…i hope the invites are not done yet…and yeah i was curious as to whether they will invite by phone or email for internationals

@fallbiomed2011: do you know if it’s true that internationals still have to do interviews for harvard BBS (although it’s not required for domestic students)?

ash…well i havent heard or read such a thing…what is your source of info.

i found it on this thread on the GradCafe:

[Harvard BBS - The GradCafe Forums](<a href=“Harvard BBS - Biology - The GradCafe Forums”>Harvard BBS - Biology - The GradCafe Forums)

Hi…
I am also waiting for the 2011 admission results. Looks like they started inviting domestic students from what I read from other sites. However, I am unsure whether international students are being invited later… Anyway… plze specify the program you apply for the BBS so that I can have an idea of spots left… I apply for PhD in developmental and regenerative medicine
