Congrats everyone!! I received an interview offer from UNC late last week by phone as well. Still waiting on everywhere else though…

I got interviews from BCMB at Johns Hopkins, Duke (genetics and genomics), Chapel Hill (BBSP), and UChicago (Division of biomedical sciences) all last week.

Has anyone heard anything from the Ivies yet? Mol Bio at Princeton in particular? I also haven’t heard from CAMB at Penn, BBS at Yale or BBS at Harvard.

Out of curiosity, are any of you guys that got invites from UNC Chapel Hill BBSP, Biochemistry/Biophysics applicants or are you in another category?

bmc2011
someone on the gradcafe biology forums said he got an interview invite from yale BBS immunology this past sunday. i am also applying to yale bbs but in molec and have not heard anything yet. yale’s website said they start send out invites in early jan., so i dont know what happened there… maybe he was just an exceptionally strong candidate?

@NS1A, I’m Genetics (or whatever broader group they cluster genetics with)…

Yea, I also applied to the medicinal chem and natural product track through BBSP at UNC. I havent heard anything yet. I hope this means that different departments look at their applications on different days?

On another note, I just talked to PIBS at UMich. They said they will be reviewing all the apps on the Dec. 16th and notifications will be sent out on that day or the day after via phone calls.

::nervous::

Was this for a particular program within PIBS? I saw on gradcafe that someone applying for neuroscience at UMich already received an interview invite.

I think for people who applied for neuroscience, they had an option of applying directly into the department. I believe that they review their applications separately. I think 16th is for the rest of the programs within PIBS.

Interview from Cornell BMCB via email.

hey bmc2011, for Uchicago - what program did you apply for/when were your materials in? thanks for your help!

Oh man congrats to everyone with invites. I’m really mad right now. UChicago is one of my top choices and but now I’m so depressed because one of my profs still haven’t submitted my LoR. Am I just screwed? I feel like I’ve got zero chance there now.

Harvard BBS tends to notify of acceptances around the second or third week of January.

I also know Harvard’s Program in Neuroscience admissions committee is meeting for the first time on Friday, because I had to re-schedule my dissertation advisory committee meeting around that stupid meeting.

@BMC2011: Haven’t heard from Princeton, Harvard/Yale BBS yet, but I did hear from Columbia biophysics today.

I wouldn’t expect Princeton or Harvard to get back to you until 2011.

@BMC2011: Which program did you apply at Johns Hopkins?

interview invite at Columbia for Micro/Immuno via email on Dec 10th

I just got an email from WashU saying that they had reviewed my application and have forwarded it on to the admissions committee. They said if that review is favorable, then I will be invited for an interview. They also asked for a list of faculty members who I would be interested in speaking with if invited. Anyone else get this?? Seems like a good sign…

kurplunk18
i got this too… seems like its a mass email then… :(

When I looked at last years thread to see when we could expect calls not everyone got that email and everyone who mentioned the email in the discussion soon thereafter got invited for an interview.

Probably not a sure thing, but a good sign!
